Second car in 3 months crashes into roof of Excelsior Springs VA building

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officers with the Excelsior Springs Police Department are on the scene of a crash at the Clay-Ray Veterans Association Building after a second car this year crashed into its roof. According to police, at about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the VA building at 208 Veterans Memorial Drive on reports of a crash. KHP searching for family of victim who died in I-35 crash Saturday morning When they arrived, it was reported that the car had crashed through the roof of the building, and the engine was lying in the front yard. Police said one person, the driver, was taken to a hospital. However, their condition is unknown. Nobody was in the building at the time of the crash. According to , in the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 15, a 22-year-old Olathe man crashed into the roof of the building while speeding from police after they tried to pull him over for a traffic violation. TOPEKA (KSNT) – State troopers worked several deadly crashes and made multiple DUI arrests over the Memorial Day holiday weekend this year. The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) released its report from the Memorial Day weekend on citations, warnings and arrests. The report encompasses the holiday weekend starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 23 and ending at midnight on Monday, May 26. State troopers worked four deadly crashes over the weekend that resulted in a total of seven deaths across Kansas. Other statistics from the reporting period are below: DUI arrests – 20. Speed citations – 502. Speed warnings – 420. Safety belt citations – 77. Safety belt warnings – seven. Safety belt teen citations – two. Child restraint citations – 14. Motorist assists – 590. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A search is underway after FBI Kansas City investigators said a man robbed a bank Tuesday morning near the Country Club Plaza. Just after 9:30 a.m., the FBI Kansas City office said a white man entered the UMB Bank — located at 4920 Main Street — and presented a note to the employees that demanded money. 21-year-old KC man hospitalized after Memorial Day rollover crash The man then fled the scene, leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash. Luckily, no injuries were reported. According to the FBI Kansas City office, the man was described as 5'5″ to 5'9″, slender and wearing a brown-hooded sweatshirt. He was also wearing a black T-shirt under this sweatshirt, brown pants and multi-color tennis shoes. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Part of U.S. 69 highway in Overland Park will be fully closed in the overnight hours for the next two days as part of the state's 69Express project. According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, all northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 69 between 103rd Street and College Boulevard will be closed to traffic. KHP searching for family of victim who died in I-35 crash Saturday morning The closures will take place from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, and then again from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday. Drivers who are headed north on U.S. 69 will be directed to use the eastbound Interstate 435 ramp, travel east on I-435, exit at Antioch Road, re-enter I-435 to head west, and then use the northbound U.S. 69 ramp to get back onto the highway. Southbound U.S. 69 drivers will be directed to use the I-435/103rd Street ramp and then continue south to return to the highway. Crews will be conducting pavement work and overhead truss installation during those times as part of KDOT's U.S. 69 corridor modernization and expansion project.
