KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Part of U.S. 69 highway in Overland Park will be fully closed in the overnight hours for the next two days as part of the state's 69Express project.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, all northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 69 between 103rd Street and College Boulevard will be closed to traffic.

The closures will take place from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, and then again from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday.
Drivers who are headed north on U.S. 69 will be directed to use the eastbound Interstate 435 ramp, travel east on I-435, exit at Antioch Road, re-enter I-435 to head west, and then use the northbound U.S. 69 ramp to get back onto the highway.
Southbound U.S. 69 drivers will be directed to use the I-435/103rd Street ramp and then continue south to return to the highway.
Crews will be conducting pavement work and overhead truss installation during those times as part of KDOT's U.S. 69 corridor modernization and expansion project.
Scheduled project work is weather permitting and could be subject to change.

WAMEGO (KSNT) – State transportation officials say an upcoming railroad crossing repair project in Wamego will result in traffic disruptions at the local level and a big detour for some. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced on KanDrive that work crews are getting ready to start the repair project at 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 31 and wrap it up by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3. Workers will be repairing a railroad crossing that sits between U.S. Highway 40 and the Wabaunsee/Pottawatomie County line. Wamego Caterpillar facility changes ownership, hundreds of local jobs saved KS-99 Highway will be shut down for both northbound and southbound traffic while this project is ongoing, according to KDOT. The official detour route for those trying to reach Wamego on KS-99 Highway from the south runs for nearly 30 miles and is as follows: Drivers traveling north on KS-99 Highway will turn west onto KS-18 Highway/Zeandale Road and take it to Manhattan. Next, take KS-18 Highway onto KS-177/Highway 24. Lastly, take Highway 24 east-northeast back to Wamego. The above detour is the same but in reverse for those trying to get around to the south of Wamego from the north, according to KDOT. Drivers should expect about 35-40 minutes of extra time on the road when following the detour route, according to Google Maps. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officers with the Excelsior Springs Police Department are on the scene of a crash at the Clay-Ray Veterans Association Building after a second car this year crashed into its roof. According to police, at about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the VA building at 208 Veterans Memorial Drive on reports of a crash. Police said one person, the driver, was taken to a hospital. However, their condition is unknown. Nobody was in the building at the time of the crash. According to , in the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 15, a 22-year-old Olathe man crashed into the roof of the building while speeding from police after they tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.
