Performers call at Wales' biggest free outdoor arts festival

Big Splash, presented by The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre, is set to return to Newport this summer. The festival, which draws thousands of visitors to the city, features live music, street theatre, dance, crafts, workshops, and activities for all the family across two days, free of charge. The organisers are keen to hear from choirs, dance groups, bands, poetry collectives, and solo acts who want to be part of the celebrations. Sally-Anne Evans, community arts development officer at The Riverfront Theatre, said: "We've always championed local talent as a core part of the festival. "Our community callout is an open invitation to groups and individuals to be part of the experience and perform alongside professional acts." Performers will have the opportunity to showcase their talents on the Celebrate Stage, Dock Stage, or at Usk Plaza. All performances must be family-friendly and suitable for all ages. Big Splash is proud to represent the broad and diverse communities of Newport and South Wales. Performers of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with a particular welcome to Welsh language acts, artists with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ performers, and members of global majority communities. Applications close on Sunday, June 1. For more information on how to apply, visit the Newport Live website.
