Live Events (You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel Japanese air-conditioner manufacturer Daikin has set up a global capability centre (GCC) in India in partnership with EY to build capabilities around information technology, digital services, data management services , finance, artificial intelligence and allied areas, a senior company official facility will be located in Gurgaon and will be named as Daikin Innovation and Services Hub . It will employ close to 700 employees. The company's goal is to build these capabilities in India rather than as a cost-reduction initiative. This facility will be a precursor to a future large scale giant GCC in the country for the group, as per a corporate presentation.'Success of this project will pave the way for more such centres in India. There is a shift in the mindset of the parent company which led to this opening of the GCC and also due to India's talent pool. The Indian business will play a bigger role for the parent company,' the executive is one of the largest markets for Daikin with a revenue of Rs 13,500 crore in 2024-25. The company is also making India a global production hub with export of air-conditioners to Africa, South America, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan. Daikin is also setting up an export oriented plant in Sri has made a foray into component manufacturing in the country, including compressors. The company's India managing director KJ Jawa is also the only non-Japanese in the parent company board in Japan.
