In a coordinated crackdown aimed at restoring peace and order in Manipur, joint security forces on Saturday recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during operations conducted across five valley to the media at the Police Headquarters in Imphal, K Kabib, Inspector General of Police (Zone-II), said the operations were launched in the early hours of July 26 based on specific intelligence from the Manipur Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and the Army/Assam Rifles carried out the joint effort across Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur districts. The coordinated operations led to the recovery of 90 weapons and 728 rounds of ammunition from multiple concealed locations. Among the arms seized were three AK series rifles, one M16 rifle, one INSAS light machine gun, five INSAS rifles, four self-loading rifles (SLRs), four rifles of .303 calibre, and seven cache also included 20 carbines, eight rifles, 20 single-bore action guns, three anti-riot guns, one lathode gun, three double-barrel guns, six bolt action guns, three two-inch mortars, and a locally made pipe recovered during the operation comprised 399 rounds of 7.62 mm, 228 rounds of 5.56 mm, 35 rounds of .303, 23 rounds of 9 mm, and six rounds of .32 mm. In addition, the forces recovered 21 grenades, one high-explosive mortar shell, nine tube launchers, and six improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The search also yielded 21 assorted magazines and 24 wireless the operation as a major accomplishment, the Manipur Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of department urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activity or information related to illegal police officials said that similar intelligence-driven operations would continue in a sustained and focused manner in collaboration with all security stakeholders. Imphal: In a major crackdown on illegal arms possession, security forces recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during early morning operations on Tuesday across valley districts of Manipur. "Acting on specific intelligence regarding concealed weapon stockpiles, joint teams comprising Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Army/Assam Rifles launched coordinated raids in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur districts," Manipur IGP (intelligence) K Kabib told the mediapersons at a press conference on Tuesday. The operations led to the seizure of 86 weapons, including five AK-series rifles, three INSAS rifles, 16 SLRs, five .303 rifles, 19 pistols, two carbines, 60 assorted rifles, and other warlike stores such as anti-riot guns, SBBL/bore action guns, JVPCs, bolt-action rifles, and one two-inch mortar. A total of 974 rounds of live ammunition — including 7.62mm, 5.56mm, .303, 9mm, and .32mm rounds — were recovered along with nine grenades, six HE mortar shells, two tube launchers, and four improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The raids also yielded 41 magazines and six wireless handsets. Calling it a major achievement in ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal arms networks and strengthen law and order, Kabib said the recovery would bolster peace initiatives across the state. He urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or the Central Control Room. "We remain committed to working in close coordination with all security stakeholders. Targeted operations will continue in a sustained and strategic manner to safeguard the lives and property of our citizens," he added.
