KL Deemed to be University Launches 'Skill Palaver' – A Project-Based Learning Hackathon to Strengthen Industry Readiness
KL Deemed to be University, through its Skill Development Division, successfully inaugurated the first phase of 'Skill Palaver', an innovative project-based learning initiative designed for BCA, and MCA students. This pioneering program seamlessly integrates hackathons into the academic framework, focusing on specialization-based professional electives and industry-aligned skill courses to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. The three-phase initiative aims to equip students with hands-on, industry-relevant skills. The first phase, 'Learnathon,' featured interactive sessions with leading industry experts addressing real-world problem statements. It will be followed by a 'Virtual Review,' an in-semester evaluation by domain professionals, and a final 'Hackathon & Open House,' which will showcase and evaluate student-developed solutions. Phase 1, conducted from the evening of 2nd August to 3rd August 2025, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 1,650 pre-final year students. Students engaged in four challenge tracks: AI & ML, Cloud Computing, Virtual Instrumentation, and Multiphysics Simulation. The event provided a platform for students to apply their knowledge to complex, industry-inspired problems while working in collaborative teams. Renowned industry experts, including G. Anil Kumar, Senior Engineer, Cisco; Mr. P. Thathammadora, Technical Leader, IBM; G. Naga Sai Ram, Senior Application Engineer, Ansys; and Anish, Director, Adya Skills, mentored students during the Learnathon sessions. Their expertise on real-world use cases, technical challenges, and solution development strategies provided valuable insights, laying a strong foundation for innovative problem-solving approaches. The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. T. Rama Krishna Rao, Principal – College of Engineering, KL Deemed to be University, with active support from departmental heads and SPOCs from CSE, ECE, EEE, ME, AI&DS, IoT, BCA, MCA, and allied streams. The Learnathon featured intensive overnight brainstorming sessions, culminating in early-morning presentations where student teams showcased their proposed action plans, reflecting endurance, creativity, and teamwork. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. A. Srinath, Dean – Skill Development, KL Deemed to be University, said, 'Skill Palaver is a transformative platform that fosters self-directed learning, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving abilities. It prepares students to be industry-ready well before graduation.' This initiative was conducted under the guidance of Dr. G.P.S. Varma, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Venkatram and Dr. K. Rajasekhara Rao, Pro Vice Chancellors, who provided strategic direction and support throughout the event. Phase 1 marks a significant milestone in strengthening academia-industry collaboration at KL Deemed to be University, with two more phases of Skill Palaver scheduled for later in August 2025.

KLH Scholar Awarded Doctorate for Pioneering Research in Brain Tumour Detection
KL Deemed to be University has conferred a Doctorate degree on Ms. A. Vinisha, a research scholar from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at KLH, Aziznagar campus, for her outstanding research contributions in the field of medical image processing. Her work focuses on the development of an efficient brain tumour detection and classification algorithm using advanced deep learning techniques. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Ravi Boda, Associate Professor at KLH Aziznagar, Vinisha conducted her research on the topic titled 'Development of Efficient Brain Tumour Detection and Classification Algorithm Using Deep Learning Methods.' Her research presents a deep learning framework by integrating Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), Spatial Pyramid Pooling Fast+ (SPPF+), and BiFPN into a fine-tuned YOLOv7 architecture. This highly sophisticated model was used to accurately detect and classify glioma, meningioma, and pituitary tumours from brain MRI images, achieving an exceptional accuracy of 99.5%. The research was supported by KLH's state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence at Aziznagar, which houses GPU computing clusters, medical imaging laboratories, and interdisciplinary research spaces. The advanced infrastructure enabled Vinisha to explore emerging trends in medical artificial intelligence, aligning her work with global innovations in multimodal MRI-based diagnostic systems. Her work has a strong potential for real-world clinical applications, intellectual property generation, and future translational research in the field of neuro-oncology.

The campus received the "Outstanding Partner Institute Award" and the "Best Hosting Institute Award for InnoWAH Prefinals." These accolades, presented by Dr. K. Satyanarayana, Director of IIT Madras, recognize the institute's exemplary contributions in innovation, coordination, and academic engagement at the national level. Dr. A. One standout project addressing urban waste management with IoT-enabled smart bins and intelligent routing received special praise for its innovation and scalability, he informed. KL Deemed to be University Students Lead Asian Powerlifting Championships 2025 with Multiple Gold Medals
KL Deemed to be University (KLEF) proudly celebrated the outstanding achievements of its students at the Asian Junior Women Equipped and Classic Powerlifting Championships, as well as the Asian University Powerlifting Cup, held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, from 5th to 12th May 2025. Demonstrating exceptional strength, determination, and discipline, three student-athletes from KLEF won multiple gold medals across various categories on an international stage, bringing immense pride to the university and the nation. Shaik Shabeena, a BBA student representing India in the 84kg category, delivered a commendable performance at the Asian Junior Women Equipped Powerlifting Championship 2025 on May 10, 2025. She secured four Gold Medals in Squat (190kg), Bench Press (85kg), Deadlift (180kg), and the combined total of 455kg, earning the Overall Gold Medal. Presenting her consistency and prowess, she extended her winning streak by claiming another four Gold Medals at the Junior Asian University Equipped Powerlifting Cup 2025, held on May 11, 2025, in the +84kg Junior Women category. Along with these achievements, Nagam Gnana Divya, a BCA student, delivered a powerful performance at the Asia University Classic Powerlifting Championship 2025 on May 11, 2025. Competing in the +84kg category, she secured Gold Medals in Squat (172.5kg), Bench Press (62.5kg), Deadlift (150kg), and achieved a total of 385kg, earning the Overall Gold Medal. Adding further prestige to KLEF University's outstanding presence at the championships, Shanoon Madira, a BA-IAS student, earned the Gold Medal in the 47kg category at the Junior Asian Universities Classic Powerlifting Championship on May 11, 2025. Her victory showcased excellence in both strength and technique. Speaking about these accomplishments, Er.
