KLS GIT launches AI lab and incubation centre

Karnataka Law Society's Gogte Institute of Technology (KLS GIT) has set-up an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) Lab powered by NVIDIA and a state-of-the-art start-up Incubation Centre in Belagavi. Society president Anant Mandagi inaugurated the two facilities on the college premises on Saturday. He unveiled the AI lab and KLS GRID – short for GIT's Research, Innovation, and Development Centre. He said the GRID was a launchpad where student ideas could take flight. 'With room for 50 start-ups, this incubation centre is built to nurture entrepreneurs, offering mentorship, infrastructure, and student internship support. Eight start-ups are already moving in and getting to work — a clear sign that innovation is alive and kicking at KLS GIT,' he said. GRID will also house a dedicated office for TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Hubballi, to incubate more entrepreneurs in northern Karnataka. He said a new 25,000 sq. ft incubation facility is already on the drawing board and was expected to be up and running within 18 months. He said the college was striving to make students future ready. He thanked the faculty for embracing change and driving the institution forward. 'We're investing not just in buildings and labs — we're investing in the aspirations of our students and the future of this region,' he said. Rajendra Belgaonkar, chairman, governing council, said that the AI Lab had NVIDIA HGX H200 GPU servers, that brought world-class computing power right into the hands of students and start-ups at KLS GIT. 'Whether students are in computer science or civil engineering, this lab is designed to make artificial intelligence accessible across all branches — accelerating research, innovation, and real-world problem solving. The servers are hosted in a revamped data centre, marking a serious upgrade to the institute's technical infrastructure,' he said. Gajendra Tripathi, formerly of T-HUB Hyderabad, presented a talk on Startup Ecology at KLS GIT. M.S. Patil, principal, KLS GIT, and Shwetha Goudar, dean R&D, KLS GIT, members of KLS management, teachers and staff, members of industry bodies in Belagavi and others were present.
