New Centre of Digital and AI Excellence inaugurated at KL University
KL Deemed-to-be University and WebileApps India Private Limited, a subsidiary of KFin Technologies, inaugurated a Centre of Digital and AI Excellence (CODE) on Friday. The initiative aims to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and foster innovation in digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) on the university campus. CODE is designed to give KL University students hands-on exposure to real-world industry applications of digital and AI technologies, effectively bridging the gap between academic learning and industry demands. Speaking at the launch, WebileApps CEO Nazish Mir said: 'With CODE, we aim to transform Vijayawada into a hub of digital and AI excellence. This initiative is expected to generate over 1,000 high-skilled technology jobs and create a pipeline of industry-ready talent.' KFin Technologies Group CEO Sreekanth Nadella said that the partnership with KL University was rooted in long-term value creation for students and stakeholders. 'By embedding industry exposure into education, we are creating a scalable, sustainable talent model,' he said. The CODE initiative integrates an industry-orientated curriculum with real-time learning experiences, which facilitate the development of market-relevant skills in AI and digital domains. Mr. Nadella also highlighted the strategic focus on Vijayawada, citing its rich talent pool, robust infrastructure, and excellent connectivity. He added that a planned rollout of WAI CODE will be fully embedded into the university's academic framework. Training enhances teachers' professional skills
Vijayawada: Director of School Education, Vijay Rama Raju V emphasised that everyone must work with dedication towards the development of education and schools. On Monday, he inaugurated a three-day State-level training programme for 416 State Resource Persons (SRPs) organised by SCERT at KL University (Vaddeswaram, Guntur). Addressing the participants, Rama Raju said that the training is being provided on the Academic Calendar, Teachers' Handbook, Student Assessment Booklets, LEAP App and more. He stated that this training will enhance the professional standards of teachers and will help State's education system reach international standards. He urged teachers to dedicate themselves fully to teaching throughout the academic year. Plans prepared weekly and monthly, starting from the first day of the academic year, will be implemented in schools from this academic session. He also informed that a Bridge Course will be conducted for students of Grades 3, 6, and 9 in the academic year 2025–26. The Director added that the monthly cluster meetings will also contribute significantly to improving both the teachers skills and students learning outcomes. SCERT Director MV Krishna Reddy stated that this training will enhance the professional competencies of teachers. KL University Registrar Dr K Subbarao, Dean KRS Prasad, SSC SCERT faculty and staff also participated in the programme.

Hyderabad's grandmaster Rithvik bags spot in World Cup 2025
HYDERABAD: Grandmaster Raja Rithvik from Hyderabad has earned a coveted spot in the Chess World Cup 2025, which is likely to be held in India this November. His selection comes after his excellent performance at the Asian Individual Chess Championship 2025 held in Al Ain, UAE from May 6 to 16. According to World Chess Federation rules, the top 10 finishers at the Asian Championship automatically qualify for the Chess World Cup. Competing as the 33rd seed, Rithvik clinched 6th place in a field of 154 top players representing 33 countries, including China, Japan, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Iran and India. He scored 6.5 points across nine rounds, with five wins, three draws, and a single loss. Six other Indians also qualified for the Chess World Cup 2025 at the UAE event. Expressing his excitement, Rithvik said: 'The Asian Individual Chess Championship was a true test of skill and resilience, with the best players from across the continent. To finish among the top and qualify for the World Cup is a dream come true.' A student of Engineering at KL University, Hyderabad, Rithvik has been receiving advanced training at RACE Chess Academy under coach N Rama Raju and is also mentored online by Ukrainian GM Alexander Goloshchapov. Rithvik's recent achievements include a silver medal at the Laplagne International Chess Championship and National Blitz Championship and bronze at the Cappelle International Chess Championship and National Rapid Championship-2024. Congratulating him, Telangana State Chess Association Secretary A Jaya Chandra said: 'He has brought laurels to the state and country through his achievements.'

Engineering student run over by SUV coming in wrong direction near Gandipet
1 2 3 Hyderabad: A 19-year-old engineering student was killed and two of his friends injured after a car coming in the wrong direction hit their bike head-on near Gandipet on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as R Vinay Kumar Reddy , son of China Veera Reddy from Peersahebpet in Nandyal. Vinay was a Btech 2nd year student at KL University in Chilkoor. He was residing with seven other students in a rented house at Sun City in Rajendra Nagar. "At 2.30 am on Tuesday, Vinay along with two of his roommates, Vishnav Abhignav and Charith Karthik, left their room on a bike to have tea. As they reached Meluha School in Gandipet, a Mahindra XUV500 coming in the wrong direction hit their bike. Vinay died on the spot with severe injuries. The other two suffered simple injuries and they are out of danger," Moinabad inspector G Pavan Kumar Reddy said. Police identified the car driver as Sk Hanif, 22, from Manikonda. At the time of the incident, four others were in the SUV. "The accused fled from the scene abandoning the vehicle. We are trying to locate him," the inspector said. The deceased's body was sent for autopsy. A case of causing death due to negligence and other sections was registered at Moinabad PS.
