KOMO Biosciences Grants Research License to Caravan Biologix for KOMbine ™ Targeted Insertion Gene Editing Platform
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--KOMO Biosciences, a pioneer in precision genome engineering, today announced it has granted a Research License to Caravan Biologix, an innovator advancing mini-CAR™ technology: miniature T-cells that harness the body's natural immune power. The KOMbine™ Research License enables Caravan to evaluate KOMO's high-efficiency targeted insertion technology platform for a predefined research period. KOMO Biosciences is a next-generation precision genome engineering technology company commercializing KOMbine™, a proprietary, high-efficiency targeted gene insertion platform. Under the license agreement, Caravan will have access to the KOMbine platform to develop stably integrated mini-CAR constructs in induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). The combination of technologies aims to shorten development timelines, lower manufacturing costs, and improve the potency and durability of Caravan's expanding pipeline of mini-CAR candidates for solid tumors. 'Caravan's vision of democratizing cell therapy aligns perfectly with our mission to address urgent unmet needs by delivering targeted, efficient, and scalable genome engineering solutions across cell types and modalities,' said Jennifer Manning, founder CEO of KOMO Biosciences. 'By integrating KOMbine with Caravan's innovative mini-CAR architecture, together, we will work to unlock faster and more reproducible manufacturing processes and accelerate patient access to life-changing therapies.' 'KOMO's integrase platform provides a promising and exciting path to precise, high-efficiency insertion of multi-kilobase payloads in iPSCs and primary immune cells — exactly what we need to develop the next generation of mini-CAR products,' added Thomas Malcolm, CEO & Chief Science Officer of Caravan Biologix. 'We look forward to evaluating KOMbine with our platform, with the goal of advancing several of our solid tumor programs into IND-enabling studies.' Brutal details: Three sisters who vanished while visiting homeless dad were found with bags over their heads, wrists zip-tied
The bodies of three young sisters killed, allegedly by their dad, in Washington state were found with plastic bags over their heads and their wrists zip-tied, investigators said. The gruesome new details were laid bare in court papers as cops continued the manhunt for their homeless father, 32-year-old Travis Decker, on Wednesday, KOMO reported. The bodies of the Decker sisters — Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 — were discovered in an embankment near the Rock Island Campground in Wenatchee, roughly three hours east of Seattle, on Monday evening. A preliminary report found the girls were likely asphyxiated. In addition to the bags and zip-ties, the girls' bodies were found in the same outfits they were wearing when they vanished Friday. Their bodies were found close to their father's white 2017 GMC Sierra truck, which allegedly had two bloody handprints smeared on the back, the papers state. It comes after the girls' mother, Whitney Decker, had issued a heartbreaking appeal for their safe return Monday, hours before the bodies were found. 'I just want the girls back home safe and sound — that is the most important thing to me,' she said in the emailed statement sent to NCWLIFE. 'I am concerned about the safety and wellbeing of my girls and their dad. This is an unimaginable situation.' I am pleading for everyone to look out for them,' she said in the emailed statement sent to NCWLIFE.' 7 shot at park in Washington state, police say
This image made from a video provided by KOMO shows police working at the scene of a shooting at Harry Todd Park in Lakewood, Wash., Wednesday, May 28, 2025. ( via AP) Seven people were shot and wounded, three of them critically, at a park in a suburb of Tacoma, Washington, on Wednesday evening, police said. Officers found a 'very hectic scene' when they responded to calls reporting shots fired at Harry Todd Park in Lakewood just before 8 p.m., Lakewood Police Sgt. Charles Porche told KOMO-TV. He said medics transported five people to hospitals and two others got to hospitals on their own. The Seattle Times reported that Porche said three people were in critical condition. Investigators don't know how many shooters were involved or whether the victims were targeted, he said. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday. More than 100 people were at the park next to American Lake when shots were fired, Porche said. 'We've had these couple days here where the sun finally came out and it's been a gorgeous time for people to get out and enjoy the park, the lake and then you have something like this that happens,' he said. 'It is one of the great tragedies, right? You don't want anybody to get shot and then you end up with seven different victims that happen out of this act of violence that, so far, we don't know why.' The shooting comes days after a Memorial Day shooting at a Philadelphia park that killed two people and injured nine. © For copyright information, check with the distributor of this item, KOMO-TV.
