Postcards released to mark MMCRI centenary

Mysuru: Chief postmaster general, Karnataka Circle, K Prakash, on Saturday praised the contributions of Mysuru Medical College Research Institute (MMCRI) for contributing to the world-class medical fraternity, as its alumni were working in several countries across the world. He was speaking after releasing postcards featuring the centenary celebrations of MMCRI at a function organised at its council hall. "MMCRI was the first medical college in the erstwhile Mysuru kingdom in 1924, and it is celebrating its centenary this year. MMCRI and its constituent hospitals — KR Hospital, Cheluvamba, and other health facilities — provide crucial health services to people in and around Mysuru districts. They contribute significantly to the promotion of medical education, apart from serving many outpatients daily," the officer explained. Speaking on the occasion, MMCRI dean and director, Dr KR Dakshayini, appreciated chief minister Siddaramaiah, for releasing Rs 65 crore for the construction of an OPD block at KR Hospital as part of the centenary celebrations.
