Manufacturing, youth in focus as Telangana takes steps to reach $1 trillion goal by 2035

1 2 3 Hyderabad: Telangana govt intends to implement multiple measures to achieve its goal of a $1 trillion economy by 2035. The current value of Telangana's economy is around $200 billion, while Maharashtra stands at $500 billion. It's estimated that Telangana will take about 15 years to hit $1 trillion economy, but to fast forward it to 2035 the govt is putting in place a policy focussed on four aspects – zoning for industrial growth, skill development, low population growth and woman's participation. On Friday, chief secretary K Ramakrishna Rao held a vision meeting to discuss the goal of reaching a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and $3 trillion by 2047. The state govt has given serious consideration to the recent observation of former Reserve Bank of India governor C Rangarajan that Telangana is among four states in the country with the highest potential to become developed by 2047. "The chief secretary said that to achieve this goal by 2035, a distinct vision and focus was essential," a source said. The meeting also addressed chief minister A Revanth Reddy's perspective that GSDP figures should be calculated with specific targets set for cities, particularly for Hyderabad, rather than adhering to the conventional practice of calculating GSDP for the entire state. The chief secretary also emphasised the need to focus on providing skills to the youth across the state to enhance their employability. A zoning system is being followed to promote industries and business activities within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the area between ORR and Regional Ring Road, which is seen as a significant economic booster. "Business activities are being planned in such a way that all services sector activities will be within ORR, while manufacturing will primarily be around RRR. The CM believes that manufacturing will drive the necessary growth in the economy by creating many blue collar jobs and generating revenue for the state. This zoning system is designed accordingly, and progress is being made in this direction. Hyderabad will be a major source of growth," a source said. The slow population growth rate is also seen as an advantage for achieving the target. Telangana's population is expected to remain around 4.2 crore, from the current approximately 3.8 crore. Additionally, the state has great potential as the participation of women in the labour force is quite high in the county. They will be more involved in economic activities by giving them ownership of green energy plants, sources said. However, there are clear challenges ahead in light of a significant debt burden. "It's not a problem that can be solved overnight, but the govt is aware that it needs to be addressed," a source said. Another concern is regarding environmental issues arising due to rapid development. "Hyderabad faces flooding during heavy rains, and we have implemented the Musi development plan," a source added. Over 2 lakh take holy dip on last day of Saraswati Pushkaralu

BHUPALPALLY : More than two lakh pilgrims took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam on the last day of Saraswati Pushkaralu on Monday. A ten-kilometre-long traffic jam caused panic among pilgrims trying to reach the Pushkar Ghat. However, the police and Endowments department authorities cleared the traffic on the main road to make way. To facilitate transportation, TGSRTC officials operated a special shuttle service from various locations to the ghat for pilgrims. During the night, a group of priests from Varanasi (Kashi) offered the Saraswati Navaratna Mala Harathi, marking the conclusion of Pushkaralu. Later, district administration authorities organised a drone show at the ghats. State Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao and Dharmapuri MLA and Government Whip Aduluri Laxman Kumar took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. Telangana govt issues strict warning to All India Service officers

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 21 (ANI): The Telangana government on Wednesday issued a strong warning to All India Services (AIS) officers, instructing them to avoid any public conduct that may be deemed unbecoming of their position. The warning came in a memo dated May 20, 2025, following recent instances of officers reportedly displaying inappropriate behaviour during public meetings and gatherings. The government noted that such behaviour by AIS officers, including IAS, IPS, and IFS officers, had been exposed in various recent events and was damaging the image of the civil services. According to the memo, these actions had 'reflected poorly on All India Services Officers and impacted the image of the service, undermining the public's faith in the individual's ability to serve.' The memo, issued by K Ramakrishna Rao, Chief Secretary to the Government, cited Rule 3(1) of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968, which mandates that 'every Member of Service shall at all times maintain absolute integrity and devotion to duty and shall do nothing unbecoming of a Member of the Service.' The Chief Secretary emphasised that AIS officers must maintain high levels of professionalism, integrity, and decorum in their official responsibilities and public appearances. The government clarified that any officer found violating these expectations would be liable for disciplinary action. 'Henceforth, All India Services officers shall refrain from indulging in acts and gestures which are unbecoming of a Member of the Service in public meetings and gatherings. Any Member of Service who is violating the above instructions is liable for disciplinary action,' the memo stated. The order has been circulated to all IAS officers, and sent specifically to the Director General of Police to notify all IPS officers, and to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests for IFS officers. The General Administration (SPLC) Department forwarded the memo for strict compliance. (ANI)

Telangana CS warns officers against ‘unbecoming' public gestures

HYDERABAD: Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao has issued a stern memo directing all officers, including All India Services (AIS) officers, to refrain from acts and gestures deemed unbecoming of public servants during public meetings and gatherings. Sources stated that the directive followed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's disapproval of a recent incident where Tribal Welfare Secretary Sharat attempted to touch his feet during a public meeting at Macharam village in Amrabad mandal. The CM reportedly took serious note of the act and instructed the CS to issue a formal warning. In the memo issued on Tuesday, the CS wrote, 'Such acts and gestures reflect poorly on officers, damage public trust, and harm the reputation of both the individual and the government.' He added that negative publicity around such behaviour undermines the integrity of the service. Citing Rule 3(1) of the AIS (Conduct) Rules, 1968, Rao reminded officers that they must maintain absolute integrity and devotion to duty and avoid conduct unbecoming of their position. For state service officers, he referred to Rule 3 of the Telangana Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, which outlines similar expectations. 'All India Services officers are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and decorum,' the memo emphasised. Any officer found violating these norms will face disciplinary action, it warned.
