Speaking to the media, Jawahar said he had instructed state officials to ensure that no person from the Scheduled Castes is targeted, tortured, or victimized for any reason. He emphasized the need for officials to act with honesty to render justice to SCs. The Commission, Jawahar said, would not spare anyone who deliberately causes injustice to SCs.
Jawahar expressed gratitude to chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, IT minister Nara Lokesh, and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan for giving him the opportunity to serve as Chairman.
He stated that he will work for the welfare and development of SCs in the state. He noted that the coalition govt is working in an unprecedented manner and that all SCs in the state are particularly happy with Naidu-led govt. He pointed out that the govt has initiated several welfare schemes for the welfare of the SCs.
He alleged that SC/ST atrocity cases increased in the state during the previous YSRCP regime. "The Commission will function beyond politics.
We will restore faith in the system which collapsed during the previous regime. The commission will ensure that all the SCs will get justice as per the law," said Jawahar. Former APSRTC chairman and TDP politburo member Varla Ramaiah said that the appointment of KS Jawahar as SC commission chairman is a matter of joy for all the SCs.
After assuming office, MLAs Nakka Anand Babu, MMS Raju, Burla Ramanjaneyulu, and MLC Alapati Rajendraprasad congratulated Jawahar.
