KaVontae Turpin was stopped for speeding nearly 100 MPH in Texas
KaVontae Turpin was driving a black 2022 Chevrolet Corvette on July 6, 2025 when police in Allen, Texas caught him going 97 miles per hour in a 60 MPH zone.
As stated in a police report that TMZ Sports was able to review, officers stopped the 27-year-old NFL player at about 2:00 A.M., just north of Dallas.
While talking with KaVontae Turpin, Officers reported that they saw some nervous signs. Officers checked the car and found a gun in the back seat. Police stated that the gun was in a black bag with a loaded magazine.
KaVontae Turpin told Officers that the gun was his, and he did not have bad intentions.
He was taken to custody with no problems and was booked into the Collin County Jail later that morning.

According to official reports, KaVontae Turpin remained calm during the traffic stop. He told officers,
'I just came from a friend's place and didn't realize I was speeding.'
When asked about the gun, KaVontae Turpin reportedly said, 'It's for protection. I didn't mean any harm.'
KaVontae Turpin had been released on bail following the arrest. The Dallas Cowboys have not made a statement regarding the incident. KaVonte Turpin began his time with the Dallas Cowboys after playing in the USFL, where he earned an MVP award. KaVontae Turpin is also a special teams player and is known for the speed he displays on returns.
