MIRI (June 28): Dayak-based non-government organisation (NGO), Kaban Menyadi, has donated a casket for the burial of Kenedy Anak Changing, who lost his life after falling while repairing the ceiling of his house in Sungai Sebatuk, Niah on June 24.
According to Kaban Menyadi advisor Thomas Patrick, the organisation received a request for assistance from a local longhouse chief and responded immediately upon learning of the family's predicament.
'Kenedy had been doing odd jobs to support his family. He passed away after falling while repairing the ceiling of their dilapidated house,' he said.
'He leaves behind his wife and four daughters, aged between 10 and 18. All of his children are still in school, and the eldest only began her studies at a university in Peninsular Malaysia last year.'
Thomas expressed hope that the donation would help ease the family's burden during this difficult time.
'Our gesture is small but we hope it would lessen their burden, especially since Kenedy was their sole breadwinner,' he said, urging others to come forward to help the family in any other possible means. donation Kaban Menyadi lead longhouse Thomas Patrick
