Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid receives praise from former WR Kadarius Toney During a recent interview with the 'New Rory and Mal' podcast, Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney expressed his appreciation for head coach Andy Reid and his immediacy in implementing him into the playbook. "He (Andy Reid) implemented all he's going back to watching Florida film," said Toney, "Oh, yeah, I like how he did this motion right here. That's kind of where the motion comes in at in the Super Bowl. That's where that comes in. He liked the way I did the one against Tennessee (Volunteers). In my senior year, he said we could do something like this, but without you doing that, we gonna bring you back because the way they defense scheme. He was a real guru. I love Coach Reid. Man, I swear that's my favorite person right now." Toney battled injuries from training camp in 2024, contributing to his eventual release. Kadarius Toney reflects on teaming with Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes
Kadarius Toney reflects on teaming with Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes During a recent interview with the 'New Rory and Mal' podcast, Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney discussed his relationship with quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the field. "The moment I realized that, like one practice, the man threw some like a jump (pass). It was a crazy pass, I don't know what kind of pass he threw. Man, I wish I had recorded it on film. The man threw a crazy pass. I'm like, yeah, he's different," said Toney, "I ain't never seen nobody doing like, they're not even playing an overall video, and it was on the money. But our chemistry started when I first got there, because when I first got there, we're talking a lot of just spending more time, like, we just run around, let's do this, or whatever, it was kind of easy for me to catch on, to get involved early, the coaches kind of made it an emphasis, like, oh yeah, we got to make sure y'all put y'all time to make sure everything kind of on point, because we need you right now." Toney was a key part of Kansas City's Super Bowl LVII win over the Philadelphia Eagles two years ago. He was hampered by multiple injuries, including knee surgery during his tenure, finishing his last season with the Chiefs with 169 yards and a touchdown on 27 receptions. He was released on August 27, 2024, after the team's training camp.

New York Giants draft bust shoots down retirement rumors
Former New York Giants draft bust Kadarius Toney is denying rumors that he is retiring from the NFL to concentrate on his music career. The 20th overall selection in the 2021 NFL draft is recanting the message he posted on his social media account this week, but the gist of his message appeared to be pretty clear. Toney quickly came to his senses and recanted the notion that he's done with football, perhaps realizing where his main source of wealth generates from. Advertisement From the New York Post: Toney took to his Instagram account to seemingly shoot down the retirement speculation. 'Goofies on the net hollerin I'm retiring,' Toney wrote on his Instagram story. 'Just want klout. Ain't speakin on the [poop emoji] nomo.' He added: 'Love da attention for my musik tho. It's been a passion.' It remains unclear if Toney had even said that he wanted to retire in the first place. The agency that represents Toney did not immediately respond when asked for comment. The 26-year-old Toney played only 12 games for the Giants before they shipped him off to the Kansas City Chiefs midway through the 2022 season. Toney won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs that year and even scored a touchdown in the game. But like he did with the Giants, Toney wore out his welcome in Kansas City and was released last September. He played part of the 2024 season for the Cleveland Browns before they let him go in December. Toney's football career could be in jeopardy after he was arrested on an assault charge in Georgia in February. He remains a free agent with no recent news surfacing of him resuming his NFL career. Former Chiefs receiver shoots down retirement rumor. (But what about his music?)
Former Chiefs receiver shoots down retirement rumor. (But what about his music?) Former Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney spent part of his Thursday knocking down Internet rumors from 'goofies' that he is done playing football. But he took advantage of all the yacking to promote his other career — rapping as his alter ego Yung Joka. Advertisement 'Goofies on the net hollering im retiring,' the two-time Super Bowl champ wrote on his Instagram story Thursday. 'Just want klout... ain speaking on the (poop emoji) nomo. 'Love da attention for my musik tho ... it's been a passion.' Nope, not retiring, says Kadarius Toney. Who knows whether music will remain as his side gig. He doesn't have a team to play with next season, remaining a free agent one month into the signing period. Once a first-round draft pick for the New York Giants, Toney was traded to the Chiefs in 2022, where his tenure was, to be kind, tumultuous. But in Super Bowl LVII when Kansas City beat Philadelphia, Toney made the play of his career with a 65-yard punt return, the longest in Super Bowl history. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney (19) carries the ball on a 65-yard punt return against the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 57 at State Farm Stadium. The Chiefs defeated the Eagles 38-35. He later went to Cleveland, where four punt returns for 44 yards became the highlight of the three games he played there. He muffed a punt on one of his last two plays with the Browns before the team cut him loose. Advertisement A nickname was born: 'Yung Drops.' Toney was back in the news in January after he was arrested for aggravated assault for allegedly strangling a woman at his home in Georgia. So where did the retirement rumors come from? According to The New York Post, Toney allegedly said during an Instagram Live that he was retiring from the NFL and wanted to be known as a rapper now. The rumor circulated quickly on social media, as rumors do on social media. Along with his fierce denial Thursday, Toney posted a photo of a clown and urged his followers to 'go run dat old musik up for me ... b4 I drop again.'

Former 1st-round pick Kadarius Toney appears to refute rumors he's retiring from NFL to pursue career as a rapper
Kadarius Toney's NFL future is a major question, but it doesn't appear he's going to give up on his football career just yet. The former first-round pick addressed retirement rumors Thursday, saying people running with that story just "want clout." Toney refuted that rumor in a post on Instagram. "Goofies on the net hollerin I'm retiring," Toney's post read. "Just want klout [sic]. Ain't speakin on the [poop emoji] nomo." Advertisement While Toney didn't officially state he wasn't retiring from the NFL, calling people "goofies" and accusing them of chasing clout certainly makes it sound like Toney intends to continue his football career. If you're questioning why there were rumors suggesting a former first-round pick would retire from the NFL at age 26, well, look no further than overeager people on the internet, who interpreted an Instagram Live post from Toney as a retirement announcement. Rumors spread across social media that Toney was calling it a career to focus on rapping. Toney makes music under the name Yung Joka. In his post refuting those rumors, Toney thanked people for bringing attention to his music. Toney may want to keep playing in the league, but it's no guarantee he'll get his wish. The wideout has struggled mightily since the New York Giants made him the No. 20 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Toney played just 12 games with New York before he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. Advertisement The Chiefs' attempts to incorporate Toney into their offense fell flat. He caught 41 passes for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns in 20 games with the team. Toney won two Super Bowls in Kansas City, scoring a touchdown in the team's win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. Toney dealt with injuries at the end of the 2023 season and did not appear in the playoffs during the Chiefs' Super Bowl run that season. Toney was released by the Chiefs ahead of the 2024 season. He eventually joined the Cleveland Browns. He appeared in one game with the team, in which he muffed a punt and drew a penalty for taunting. He was released by the team two days later. Advertisement In February, Toney was arrested after allegedly strangling a woman. Given Toney's pedigree and age, it was still possible he would draw interest from NFL teams, even considering his on-field struggles. February's arrest, however, could be the breaking point for NFL general managers, who may no longer consider Toney's talent worth the risk.
