Buchanan extends Chelsea deal until 2027
Chelsea defender Kadeisha Buchanan has signed a contract extension with the club until 2027. The Canada international has made 50 appearances for the Blues since joining in 2022, winning an FA Cup and two Women's Super League titles in her first two seasons. "I am really excited to have extended my contract here at Chelsea. The club has turned into family, and I feel settled in the country and the league as well, " said Buchanan."I can't wait to get back out there with the team to achieve what we aim to accomplish every single season and more."Buchanan is currently sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered during Chelsea's 3-0 league win at Liverpool in of women's football Paul Green added: "We are delighted Kadeisha has extended her deal with the club. Kadeisha Buchanan has signed a contract extension at Chelsea through to 2027. The Canada international, 29, has won two Women's Super League (WSL) titles in her two seasons at the club as well as an FA Cup and a League Cup. Former Lyon defender Buchanan is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained in November. Buchanan joins fellow central defender Millie Bright and midfielder Erin Cuthbert in renewing contracts in recent months. She made her international debut aged 18, has been named Canada's Player of the Year on three occasions and was part of the side that won Olympic gold in 2021. Buchanan was a five-time Champions League winner with Lyon before her move to Kingsmeadow in 2022. Chelsea are chasing a quadruple of trophies this season, including the Champions League where they face reigning champions Barcelona in the semi-finals.
