VIT organises debating skills programme for school students in Vellore
The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) organised a two-day programme to develop debating skills among school students at its campus in Vellore on Saturday.
According to a press release, the programme was titled as Young Indians Parliament 2.0 (YIP 2.0). It was aimed to inculcate debating culture among school students. Speaking at the event, Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, assistant vice-president, VIT, highlighted digital technologies and its impact on youth. She urged the students to minimize the usage of social media and use it prudently. She also touched upon how the prevailing gig economy has both advantages and disadvantages.
More than 120 students in Vellore are participating in the city-level round. The winners will go through to the State level round and then to the nationals. On the occasion, Prashanth, Chapter Chair, Young Indians (Vellore), Althaf Hussain, Chapter Co-Chair, Young Indians (Vellore), were present, the release said.
