Swiss Open: Arjun Kadhe and Vijay Sundar Prashanth Ousted In Semis

Last Updated: Kadhe and Prashanth fought hard but Albano Olivetti and Hendrik Jebens proved too strong for the Indians, who ended up losing 5-7 5-7. The Indian duo of Arjun Kadhe and Vijay Sundar Prashanth were shown the exit door in the semifinalists of the Swiss Open following their defeat to Albano Olivetti and Hendrik Jebens on Friday. Kadhe and Prashanth fought hard but the third-seeded pair of Olivetti and Jabens proved too strong for the Indian pairing, who ended up losing 5-7 5-7 in a clash that lasted an hour and 22 minutes. Kadhe, who had won the Almaty Open last year alongside compatriot Rithvik Bollipalli, missed out competing in his second ATP 250 final following the defeat at St. Jakobshalle. Kadhe and Prashanth battled past the Mexican-Colombian pairing of Miguel Angel Reyes Varela and Niccolos Barrientos 7-5, 6-3 in the Round of 16 encounter, before breezing past the German duo of Jacob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner in the quarterfinals with a score of 6-3, 7-6. Three separate Indian pairs were seen in action in the ATP Tour this month, including N Sriram Balaji and Bollipalli while Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan teamed with Niki Kalyan Poonacha, in a clear show of intent in the lead up to the Asian Games. Home hopes Jakub Paul and Dominic Stricker take on the Austrian-Portuguese duo of Lucas Miedler and Francisco Cabral in the second semifinal of the event with a berth in the final against the French-German pairing of Olivetti and Jebsens for a shot at the title. Bollipalli, who teamed up with N Sriram Balaji for the event in Switzerland, was ousted by Paul and Stricker in the Ro16 as the Indians went down 4-6, 7-6, 7-10 to exit the tournament despite their fightin effort to restore parity after having conceded the opening set. However, the home duo proved too strong as they sealed the result en route to the final. view comments First Published: July 19, 2025, 14:40 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Kadhe and Prashanth shock second seeds to make Swiss Open semis

New Delhi, Jul 17 (PTI) India's Arjun Kadhe and Vijay Sundar Prashanth knocked out second seeds Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner in straight sets to advance to the semifinals of the Swiss Open in Gstaad, Switzerland. The unseeded Indians shocked the higher-ranked Germans 6-3 7-6(5) in the quarterfinals of the Euro 596,035 clay court tournament. Kadhe has one ATP title under his belt, winning the Almaty ATP 250 event last year with compatriot Rithvik Bollipalli. The Indian pair got an early break to go up 3-1 but dropped serve to let go of the advantage. However, they put the Germans under the pump one more time to take a 5-3 lead and earn an opportunity to nose ahead in the quarterfinal contest. Kadhe came out to serve for the opening set and did the job after losing two points. Both pairs played solid service games in the second set. There was no break of serve and the set was stretched to a tie-breaker. The Indians trailed 0-3 after Kadhe lost both points on his serve but they roared back to make it even-steven as Schnaitter also lost consecutive points on his serve. view comments First Published: July 17, 2025, 17:45 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
