Swansea City confirm sixth signing of the summer as West Ham youngster joins on loan The centre-back has become the latest arrival at Swansea City this summer Kaelan Casey of West Ham United Swansea City have completed the signing of West Ham United centre-back Kaelan Casey on a season long loan. The 20-year-old is a highly-rated prospect in east London, and has become Swansea's sixth signing of what's already been a busy summer. The move strengthens Alan Sheehan's defensive options ahead of the trip to Middlesbrough, with Ben Cabango and Ricardo Santos both doubts for the weekend's curtain-raiser. Casey was part of several Premier League matchday squads last season, even making a late appearance off the bench against Bournemouth, and was recently on West Ham's tour of the United States. "He's been away with West Ham obviously on their pre-season tour. Article continues below "It was an area where we needed to bring in depth and competition for places. "So we're happy to have him. "He's highly rated, and he's got a good size and presence. He's somebody that's been watched by the recruitment team and he's very highly regarded at West Ham. "So for us to get him in and add to that position is very pleasing." Asked if he might make his debut this weekend, the Swans boss added: "Potentially. We would hope so. We've brought him in to provide competition and it's an area where a few players have gone down in pre-season. "So we haven't been able to really field our potentially strongest team in pre-season. So it's an area we needed to strengthen." Director of football, Richard Montague, added: 'Kaelan will provide valuable depth for us in an area we had previously identified as needed additional resource this summer. 'He has already had a taste of Premier League football, which underlines how he is viewed by West Ham, and in our discussions with him his appetite to challenge himself has been clear. We hope he will prove to be a positive addition, developing his own game and improving us as a squad.' Global head of analytics and recruitment, Adam Worth, added: 'Kaelan is a talented young player we believe has the attributes to strengthen our options defensively. 'He already has experience of playing in Europe and at Premier League level, and he joins us raring to go following his recent experience in America.' Swansea are still hoping for futher additions before the close of the window, with a striker near the top of the club's wishlist. The Swans have already had two offers knocked back for Wycombe Wanderers striker Richard Kone, but have seen their pursuit stall in the last few days. Article continues below Swedish star Jusef Erabi is also understood to be a figure of interest to the Swans recruitment team, amid reports elsewhere of the club making a possible offer to Hammarby for his services.

Flimby play park improvement work after boys' campaign
Work to improve a village play park is due to be carried out after a successful campaign by young residents, it has been 12, and Kaelan, 13, from Flimby in Cumbria, collected about 600 signatures on a petition last month asking Cumberland Council for their local facility to be plea received the support of the area's MP Josh MacAlister, who met with them and local councillors to hear their Labour-led authority confirmed some work would be carried out over the summer. 'Kings of Flimby' The council said some work was already planned and they would look at "further ways of putting the community aspirations into action"."We've highlighted the work that was already planned and we have taken on board comments from the children and will work with them on future improvements," a spokesman MP MacAlister said he would work to secure the funding needed for further work to update the park."Flimby deserves a top notch playground and the repair work this summer is the first step to get us there," he Fee said the two boys were proud with the response they received to their campaign, including from Netherhall School, which they headteacher Mark Bailey shared their achievement on the school's Facebook page and praised them for their wrote: "These two legends really are two of the kings of Flimby and should be rightly lauded for their commitment to improving life for the residents of their community." Flimby boys collect 600 signatures to improve playground
Two boys who describe their local playground as "broken, boring and full of graffiti" are campaigning to have it Ethan, and Kaelan, 13, have been knocking on doors and asking people to sign a petition calling for Flimby Playground in Cumbria to be have collected almost 600 signatures and plan to take their petition to Cumberland council said it welcomes suggestions on how to improve its play areas and will meet with the boys to discuss how it can help put their plans into action. Speaking to BBC Radio Cumbria, Ethan said: "We want some better stuff that's not rusty, and some more stuff for the older [ones] and little ones."If we put an AstroTurf football pitch [in the park] then the children of Flimby could use it to play football on. "Then, if it is winter and raining, Flimby rugby team can use it too." Kaelan's mother, Nicola, said news of the boys' campaign work had "spread through the village"."Flimby is a very, very tight community. We all know each other and we all speak about each other's children," she said."I work at the local school, and I have had people come up to me and tell me how proud they are of the boys." The campaign has won the support of Labour's Josh MacAlister, MP for Whitehaven and Workington, who said he had written to Cumberland Council asking for "funding to be allocated for investment in the park"."I'm hopeful of a positive response from the council, and to make it a fantastic playground for local children and young people of all ages once again," he Council said it maintains dozens of play facilities and does all it can to make them "welcoming and safe sites to visit"."We will soon be meeting up with the youngsters from Flimby to see how we can support putting their plans into action," a council spokesperson said.
