Ujjain tops SSL in 3-10 lakh category
Ujjain: Ujjain secured first position in Super Swachh League in the category of cities with population of three to 10 lakh.
Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) chairman Kalavati Yadav, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal and commissioner Ashish Pathak received the award from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi.
"This achievement was made possible through public involvement. The achievement not only demonstrates efficiency of city's sanitation system but also highlights cooperation and awareness of its citizens," Tatwal said.
Pathak was of the view that Ujjain effectively adopted standard operating procedure according to the cleanliness mission standards, leading to the recognition.
UMC strengthened door-to-door waste collection and transportation system in the city.
It organized waste management and maintained continuous monitoring of waste segregation, recycling, and proper disposal.
Dewas top among cities with population between 50k and 3L
Indore: Dewas achieved a significant milestone in Swachh Survekshan 2024, securing the first position in the category of cities with a population between 50,000 and 3 lakhs. This prestigious award was presented by President Draupadi Murmu at a ceremony held today, Thursday, in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Madhya Pradesh urban administration minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Dewas mayor Geeta Agrawal, and municipal commissioner Rajnish Kasera jointly received the award from the President.
This marks the first time Dewas was honoured with a Presidential Award. The city also received a Five-Star Rating for its cleanliness efforts and earned its second consecutive Water Plus Certificate.
