Vindhya Trikon to becomea triangle of corridors soon

1 2 Varanasi: After the development of the Vindhya Corridor , the shrine area of Goddess Vindhyavasini, on the lines of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, two more corridors will be developed with the Kali Khoh and Ashtabhuja temples in Mirzapur. Due to the existence of these two temples on the adjoining hills of Vindhyachal, the area is called Vindhya Trikon , which will soon become a triangle of corridors. The cost of each proposed corridor will be Rs 50 crore, while the construction of a new 500-metre-long ghat and a 1.5-km pathway will ensure interconnectivity of all ghats along the Ganga in the Vindhyachal area. Providing details of the extensive development of Mirzapur, especially in its Vindhyachal region as a major pilgrimage site of northern India, to TOI, district magistrate Priyanka Niranjan said, "The corridors for Kali Khoh, a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, and Goddess Ashtabhuja in Vindhya Trikon are going to be developed similar to the chief deity's shrine area of Vindhya Corridor." Each of these two corridors will cost Rs 50 crores, she said, adding that most of the work plan has been finalised and approved, while a few are under process. She added that soon all work plans will be approved, after which their foundation laying will be ensured. Major components of the projects will be the rejuvenation of both temples, widening of roads leading to these shrine areas from highways and also from ghats along the Ganga, toilets, tourist facilities and multi-level parking, she said. The Vindhyachal area will not only witness the development of two more corridors but also a 500-metre-long ghat and a 1.5-km pathway between Diwan and Akhara Ghats and Maa ki Paidi will ensure interconnectivity of all ghats along the Ganga in Vindhyachal, she said, adding that new platforms for evening aarti will also be built and new aartis will be initiated. Union home minister Amit Shah laid the foundation of the Vindhya Corridor project on Aug 1, 2021, while the completed works were formally inaugurated by CM Yogi Adityanath before the 2024 Lok Sabha election. In the Rs 150 crore Vindhya Corridor, works of four lanes, Parkota (rampart), circumambulatory path, façade works and underground wiring were major components. The works of underground wiring and three lanes were completed, she said, adding that some changes were made in the plan of works proposed in Kotwali lane. A revised budget for such works, proposing works of over Rs 2 crores, was sent to the govt, she said, adding that the remaining works related to Parkota, circumambulatory path, and façade linked with the Kotwali lane route could not be finished due to the same reason.
