Varanasi: After the development of the
Vindhya Corridor
, the shrine area of Goddess Vindhyavasini, on the lines of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, two more corridors will be developed with the Kali Khoh and Ashtabhuja temples in Mirzapur.
Due to the existence of these two temples on the adjoining hills of Vindhyachal, the area is called
Vindhya Trikon
, which will soon become a triangle of corridors. The cost of each proposed corridor will be Rs 50 crore, while the construction of a new 500-metre-long ghat and a 1.5-km pathway will ensure interconnectivity of all ghats along the Ganga in the Vindhyachal area.
Providing details of the extensive development of Mirzapur, especially in its Vindhyachal region as a major pilgrimage site of northern India, to TOI, district magistrate Priyanka Niranjan said, "The corridors for Kali Khoh, a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, and Goddess Ashtabhuja in Vindhya Trikon are going to be developed similar to the chief deity's shrine area of Vindhya Corridor."
Each of these two corridors will cost Rs 50 crores, she said, adding that most of the work plan has been finalised and approved, while a few are under process. She added that soon all work plans will be approved, after which their foundation laying will be ensured. Major components of the projects will be the rejuvenation of both temples, widening of roads leading to these shrine areas from highways and also from ghats along the Ganga, toilets, tourist facilities and multi-level parking, she said. The Vindhyachal area will not only witness the development of two more corridors but also a 500-metre-long ghat and a 1.5-km pathway between Diwan and Akhara Ghats and Maa ki Paidi will ensure interconnectivity of all ghats along the Ganga in Vindhyachal, she said, adding that new platforms for evening aarti will also be built and new aartis will be initiated.

A key destination in east Uttar Pradesh's Kashi-Ayodhya-Prayagraj-Vindhyachal pilgrimage circuit, during Maha Kumbh 2025, the footfall of pilgrims at the Vindhyachal temple was recorded at around two crores, which was not less than the footfall recorded at the Kashi Vishwanath temple and Lord Ram's birthplace temple in Ayodhya.
Union home minister Amit Shah laid the foundation of the Vindhya Corridor project on Aug 1, 2021, while the completed works were formally inaugurated by CM Yogi Adityanath before the 2024 Lok Sabha election. In the Rs 150 crore Vindhya Corridor, works of four lanes, Parkota (rampart), circumambulatory path, façade works and underground wiring were major components. The works of underground wiring and three lanes were completed, she said, adding that some changes were made in the plan of works proposed in Kotwali lane. A revised budget for such works, proposing works of over Rs 2 crores, was sent to the govt, she said, adding that the remaining works related to Parkota, circumambulatory path, and façade linked with the Kotwali lane route could not be finished due to the same reason.

Times of India's Edit Page team comprises senior journalists with wide-ranging interests who debate and opine on the news and issues of the day. Supposing a song, book, movie pulls a tourist to India, how might this journey go? Perhaps nothing gladdens an ersatz desi heart more than a Western ode to Indian beauty. All the complexities of that EM Forster novel about that cave are nothing in comparison to how it continues to send the odd traveller our way. That one Odissi dancer in one Michael Jackson video is never to be forgotten. More current examples of course result in convulsions of joy. Wes Anderson to Coldplay, we scan any India-ish creation with a Sherlock magnifying glass. Did you spot Jodhpur's Mehrangarh fort or this spice bazaar or jhumka gali or that Varanasi ghat or Worli gaon? Ed Sheeran's new song Sapphire has also sent the socials on this look, don't miss, hunt. As a solidly underperforming tourist destination, India can really do with this kind of free advertising. It's one thing to be totally overshadowed by France, quite another by petite Dubai with nary a world heritage site. Even domestic tourists have begun switching their Goa bookings to Hanoi, Phuket, Bali and Siem Reap. Hence any global song, book, movie pitching Destination India sparking a national amour propre is logical. But supposing tourists far and near do hark the invite and do hoof over, it still may not, sadly, make for a fairy tale. As Abhijit Banerjee has written in TOI, we may be a very big country, but most tourists don't seem to know that. Crowds gravitate to the same historical ports of call, the same hill stations, the same beaches. For the most part, authorities don't even try to moderate the overcrowding, whether it means pollution turning ancient marble to grey or stacked monstrosities destabilising Himalayan mountains, which means tourists having a poor to dangerous experience. Full circle then, the tourist will curse the song, book, movie that made the nightmare look like a dream. Adani plans projects worth 17,500cr to expand CSMIA's capacity by '29
New Delhi: The Adani group has identified a string of projects — well over 310 that will require a capex of about Rs 17,500 crore by March 2029 — to augment the annual passenger handling capacity of Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to 6.5 crore passengers annually (CPA). The projects include building a bigger Terminal 1 in place of the existing terminal, expanding Terminal 2's capacity from 4 CPA to 4.5 CPA and increasing the hourly flight handling capacity to over 52. By 2029-30, the combined capacity of CSMIA and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is expected to touch 11.5 CPA, to "cater to the growing demands of Mumbai region and Mumbai Metropolitan Region", shows an order issued by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) recently. Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) "has proposed extending existing taxiway M to link it with the physical beginning of runway 27, including the construction of a bridge over Mithi river. The proposed Taxiway M extension will create an additional holding area for aircraft.… It will be designed for Code F aircraft (that include Boeing 747-8 and Airbus A380)," the order states. The hub had handled its highest ever passenger number of almost 5.5 crore in CY 2024. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta nueva alarma con cámara es casi regalada en Campo Lope Seco (ver precio) Verisure Since last Feb, CSMIA which has a set of cross runways — making it essentially a single runway airport — is handling upto 44 flights (down from earlier 46) during "high intensity runway operations" (HIRO) periods from 8-11am and 5-8pm. And upto 42 aircraft movement per hour (down from earlier 44) during non-HIRO period. This is now set to get a big bost in the next 3-4 years. "Some of such projects identified for implementation for enabling the airport to cater to 6.5 CPA capacity are: Reconstruction of TI to enhance the capacity from 1.5 CPA to 2 CPA. Terminal 2 northwest pier (check-in facilities, construction of bus boarding Gates (V3) T2 expansion to enhance the capacity to 4.5 CPA. Additional aircraft parking stands in the southern side of runway 09-27," states the AERA order. The other steps include construction of parking stand, constructing an airside tunnel, and an eastern taxiway parallel to runway 14-32. AERA had asked MIAL to engage UK-based National Air Traffic Services (NATS) "to provide an independent high-level review of the infrastructure and forecast demand contained in CSMIA master plan. NATS has done a study and has confirmed the peak hour theoretical capacity of 55 ATMs (aircraft movement) based on its analysis benchmarking with other busy single runway airports like Gatwick but in respect to taxiway infrastructure, it has stated that the 'master plan changes appear to offer significant benefits, but they require more detailed assessment to confirm'. The phasing of the taxiway infrastructure changes should be reviewed to ensure that sufficient capacity is provided as demand grows," the order shows. MIAL has proposed a capex of Rs 17,440 crore in the fourth control period, that is upto March 31, 2029, on the capacity augmentation at CSMIA through the various identified projects related to key areas including airside improvement and passenger terminals. T1 is proposed to be reconstructed at a cost of Rs 3,130 crore by Sept 2028. T2 expansion is projected to cost Rs 142 crore and be over by March 2027. The air traffic control technical block is projected to cost Rs 185 crore and be done by March 2027.
