Burglars from MP held in Udupi house theft case
Udupi: In a swift breakthrough, Udupi Town police arrested two interstate burglars from Madhya Pradesh in connection with a recent house break-in at a PWD residential quarter and recovered 681.8g of silver, 470mg of gold, and Rs 1,700 in cash. The arrested have been identified as Bangad alias Bangu alias Ramesh Jawan Singh, 37, and Kaliya alias Kaalu,25, both hailing from Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. A third accused is absconding. The case was registered following a complaint by Kushala H, who reported that between 6pm on July 19 and 7am on July 20, burglars broke into their home at PWD Quarters, Block B, Mission Compound, 76 Badagubettu, Udupi taluk. The intruders gained entry by unlocking the door and accessed a bedroom cupboard using a key left on a sewing machine. They decamped with silver valuables. The case was registered at Udupi Town police station under Sections 331(3), 331(4), and 305 of the BNS. Multiple theft cases are also registered against them in Maharashtra. Bangad alone has 11 cases against him in other states, while Kaliya has three in Udupi. The duo is known to target homes, particularly on weekends and holidays. Both were produced before the court. The search is on to trace the third absconding accused.
