Dakshina Kannada receives 466% excess rainfall in May: KSNDMC

Dakshina Kannada recorded a whopping 943.9 mm of cumulative rainfall this May against the normal of 166.7 mm of rainfall, a large excess of 466%, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC). Udupi district reported 837.1 mm of cumulative rainfall against the normal of 164.5 mm, a large excess of 409%, while Uttara Kannada reported 405.8 mm of rainfall against the normal of 79.6 mm, a large excess of 410 %, the KSNDMC said on Sunday. As a whole, coastal Karnataka recorded 627.6 mm of rainfall against the normal of 118.3 mm (large excess by 431%) in the month, it said. Talapady Gram Panchayat in Ullal taluk reported 288 mm rainfall during the period. Kinya Gram Panchayat recorded 282.5 mm rainfall. Munnur Gram Panchayat in the same taluk reported 263.5 mm rainfall.
