4-day induction prog begins at CUSB

Patna: A four-day induction programme 'Deeksharambh' for newly admitted students in altogether 23 undergraduate academic programmes in the current academic session (2025-26) of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) commenced on Monday with the enthusiastic participation of students and their guardians. CUSB vice-chancellor Kameshwar Nath Singh supervised the conduct of the first day's programme. The VC said that all 900 seats in the university's undergraduate courses have been filled, indicating the growing popularity and academic excellence of the institution. He asked the newcomers to remain disciplined and dedicated to their educational pursuits throughout their stay on campus. Heads of different departments and faculty members addressed the newcomers and acquainted them with the academic environment, course structure and institutional ethos of the university. The students were also made aware of various co-curricular and extracurricular activities and different kinds of resources available in the library, laboratories, computer centre and sports centre of the university. CUSB examination controller Shantigopal Pain said, "The students will also participate in various activities, including anti-ragging day, anti-drug declaration day celebrations, library and ICT orientation programmes. 1 2 Patna: Union minister of state for environment, forest and climate change, Kirti Vardhan Singh, on Friday said the country would have to focus on the farming sector if it has to achieve the goal of " viksit Bharat ' (developed India) by 2047. Inaugurating an integrated faring system and animal farm at Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) in Gaya, the minister said since a large portion of India's economy was dependent on agriculture, the role of agro-based industries is quite significant in meeting the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Active involvement of farmers and others associated with agriculture us necessary for the fulfilment of th SDGs, he said. He added that higher education institutions can play an important role in this mission by educating the farmers to adopt innovative practices in agriculture. He appreciated the fact that the CUSB agricultural department is already following innovative practices for maximising the yield on its sprawling campus causing minimum damage to the environment. Such techniques should be brought out of the university's boundaries to the nearby villages. Kameshwar Nath Singh, CUSB vice-chancellor, outlined the university's efforts for creating a fully eco-friendly campus with zero water discharge, solar-powered street lights and development of a green belt with 10,000 plants.

1 2 Patna: As many as 29 students from different departments of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) got job offers from the Azim Premji Foundation in a placement drive conducted at the campus in Gaya PRO-cum-placement coordinator Mudassir Alam said 87 students appeared at the interview of which 29 final-year postgraduate students were shortlisted for the jobs. "The job for the position of assistant research associate was offered at the initial package of Rs 4.56 lakh per annum along with additional benefits of medical assistance, relocation expense, interest-free loan, group insurance, etc," he political science department students got the maximum job offers of seven followed by the mathematics department (four). Besides students from the departments of Hindi, English, psychology, biotechnology, economics, geography, geology, history and social work also got job offers from the the students for their placements, CUSB vice-chancellor Kameshwar Nath Singh said it is a matter of joy for us and it would encourage the junior students considerably.
