Meet Swati Phogat from Haryana, not a Dangal girl, but a UPSC champ with Rank 306
Haryana, which has long been famous for producing India's best sportspersons, is now making headlines in another field - civil services. In the recently announced UPSC results, the state witnessed a sudden spurt of successful candidates, many from villages and going on to occupy some of the nation's most prestigious administrative Phogat from Modhi village in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, has secured 306th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination in her second attempt. At 28 years old, she has achieved what many dreams to India Today, Swati's father shared her journey. She studied at a local village school and later joined a sports school for higher classes. 'Swati was interested in studies since childhood,' he said.
After finishing school, Swati moved to Delhi and took admission in Kamla Nehru College. There, she studied Geography Honours. Alongside college, she also started preparing for she could not clear the interview in her first attempt, she continued working hard. Inspired by her grandfather, Pratap Singh Nambardar, she decided to join civil services and help is also pursuing her PhD from Banasthali University in Jaipur. She has cleared NET and JRF exams and completed her MSc in Geography through distance learning from Kurukshetra University.
