Mediation campaign to resolve civil cases
Kanpur: National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee Apex Court is organising a mediation campaign in the country from July 1 to September 30. The object of this campaign is to settle the pending matters of accident claim, matrimonial disputes, domestic violence, land acquisition, compoundable criminal offences, consumer disputes, loan recovery, partition, service matters and other civil matters in maximum numbers, said Kamlesh Kumar Maurya, additional sessions judge/secretary, District Legal Services Authority. He informed that if any party wishes to mediate his case pending in the court, he can get his case marked in the Mediation Campaign by submitting an application in the court concerned. In this regard, a meeting was held in the court premises under the chairmanship of district judge Kanpur Nagar Chawan Prakash to chalk out the strategy for the success of the district judge appointed additional sessions judge Subhash Singh as nodal officer of the campaign, Maurya

District jail raises anti-tobacco awareness
Kanpur: District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) on Saturday organised an awareness programme at Kanpur District Jail on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day. Additional session judge and Secretary DLSA, Kamlesh Kumar Maurya apprised the jail inmates about the ill effects of tobacco and advised them to keep a distance from tobacco. He also apprised that World No Tobacco Day was observed on 31st May by the World Health Organisation to promote awareness about the risks associated with the use of tobacco and its products and its ill effects on family, society, and the environment. Everyone should avoid consumption of tobacco and its products. Jail Superintendent District Jail, Kanpur Nagar, BD Pandey appealed to the prisoners to not consume tobacco and also inform their friends to not consume tobacco and other intoxicants. Dr. Prabhakar Tripathi informed the prisoners in detail about the diseases caused by tobacco consumption. Arogya Dham Kanpur also observed World No Tobacco Day. Participants took pledge to keep a distance from tobacco and staged a street play to create awareness among the people.
