Kamwa in mix for remarkable League Two goal of the month

The winger's superb effort from distance at Brunton Park won the Exiles' goal of the season award and now it's on the shortlist for League Two goal of the month. Kamwa slipped but then showed fast feet to work a yard of space before smashing a shot from at least 30 yards out on the left of the goal that flew over the diving but helpless Gabe Breeze. It put County 2-0 up and should have been a telling moment in their bid to be mathematically safe but they contrived to lose 3-2 and give Carlisle some hope in their relegation scrap, only for the Cumbrians to fall short. ⚽️ Vote for your @SkyBet Goal of the Month for April 👇#EFL | #SkyBetLeagueTwo — Sky Bet League Two (@SkyBetLeagueTwo) May 9, 2025 Kamwa's goal was superb but he might have to settle for a commendation given that he is up against a remarkable goal by Grimsby's Kieran Green, when he scored from inside his own half at Harrogate with a 60-yard lob. The other contenders in a high-quality list are Tranmere's Omari Patrick for a thumping free-kick in their comeback at Accrington and Harrogate's Josh March for a wonderful volley at Walsall. Supporters can vote for their favourite strike on before 5pm on Monday. The fans' choice will be combined with the choices from a panel, featuring Sky Sports pundits Don Goodman and David Prutton, to determine the winners from all three divisions.

Hat-trick hero Kamwa grateful for Jardim 'connection'

Hat-trick hero Bobby Kamwa says he is grateful for his "great connection" with Newport County head coach Nelson Jardim. The Cameroon-born forward joined the Exiles after leaving Burton Albion last summer and has featured in all but two of his side's 39 matches in all competitions this season. And the 24-year-old is thankful to Portuguese boss Jardim for sticking by him during his tougher spells in his debut campaign at Rodney Parade. "It's been up and down but I've thoroughly enjoyed it," Kamwa said of his time at Newport so far. "I'm going to give a special mention to the gaffer for sticking with me when things haven't gone well. "I'm enjoying working with him. We've got a great connection and I try to repay the faith that he's put in me. "The boys have been great with me and everyone works their socks off." Kamwa netted three goals in the opening 30 minutes as Newport ended their three-game winless run by beating Gillingham 3-1 on Tuesday night. It was the winger's second hat-trick of the season following his treble against MK Dons in December. "Personally, I'm delighted. The team count on me and I've got a lot on my shoulders," he said. "That's for me to prove to everyone that I can take the team forward and carry on helping the team to win games. "Sometimes I can pull a lot of things out of my locker, so I'm buzzing."
