Kolkata: A complaint was lodged with police commissioner Manoj Kumar Verma against Trinamool MLA Kanchan Mullick for intimidating and misbehaving with an on-duty doctor at School of Tropical Medicine (STM).
Cops at the Bowbazar PS are probing the complaint.
The West Bengal Doctors Forum on Friday wrote to chief secretary Manoj Pant, expressing discontent with the MLA threatening a doctor with transfer after he reportedly had to wait in a queue at the state-run hospital. The letter described his behaviour as a "clear violation" of West Bengal Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2009.
The incident took place when Mullick was waiting in the queue at the hospital OPD with his wife, Sreemoyee, for his aunt-in-law's treatment. He allegedly accused the attending doctor of delay.
