Mercury rises across state, Ahmedabad hottest at 35.2°C
The maximum temperatures across Gujarat rose on Sunday with Ahmedabad recording 35.2 degrees Celsius, the hottest in the state.
The South Gujarat districts including Valsad and Navsari recorded heavy rainfall and Saurashtra districts received moderate rainfall, weather agencies said.
After Ahmedabad, Surendranagar was the second hottest with 35 degrees Celsius followed by Kandla Airport at 34.6, Vadodara 34.4, Deesa 33.8, Bhavnagar 33.7, Gandhinagar 33.4, Bhuj 33.1, Surat and Kandla Port 33, Naliya 32.5, Rajkot 32.5, Okha 31.9, Porbandar and Keshod 31.6 degrees Celsius.
On Sunday between 6 am and 6 pm, Valsad received 102 mm rainfall, Pardi 100 mm, Umbergaon 60 mm and Vapi 51 mm, all in Valsad district. In the state, 39 talukas out of total 251 received rainfall till 6 pm, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) said.
The IMD has said light thunderstorms with lightning and surface wind 30-40 kmph accompanied with light to moderate rain are likely across the state in the coming week.
