New classroom building inaugurated at the Government Tribal Residential School in Pechiparai
Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena inaugurated a new classroom building at the Government Tribal Residential School in Pechparai on Friday.
The building was constructed at a cost of ₹25 lakh, funded by a Coimbatore-based private firm through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Speaking at the event, she highlighted that the Government Tribal Residential School in Pechiparai has achieved 98% pass rate in the 2024-2025 SSLC public examination. She added that the district has Government Tribal Residential Schools in Pathukani, Manalodai and Vazhayathuvayal, and these institutions have been performing well, contributing significantly to the development of tribal students.
The Collector emphasized that the Tamil Nadu government has been taking various welfare measures for the welfare of tribal people, especially focusing on the school and higher education of tribal students. She further urged the students to pursue their higher education, pointing out that the government has been providing various financial and welfare assistance for the students to support their higher education goals.
Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha Member Vijay Vasanth, Chief Educational Officer Baladhandayuthapani and other officials from other departments were present at the event.
