Special summer trains from Mumbai, Secunderabad to southern destinations
Madurai: To handle the anticipated summer rush, Central Railway has announced the operation of weekly special trains between Mumbai CST and Kanyakumari. South Central Railway has also extended its Secunderabad–Ramanathapuram special service to Rameswaram, following the commissioning of the new Pamban Rail Bridge.
According to a statement from Central Railway, Train No. 01005 Mumbai CST–Kanyakumari Weekly Special will depart from Mumbai CST at 12:30 am on May 7, 14, 21, 28, and June 4, 11, 18, and 25 (all Wednesdays), reaching Kanyakumari at 1:15 pm the next day. The return service, Train No. 01006 Kanyakumari–Mumbai CST Weekly Special, will leave Kanyakumari at 3:30 pm on May 8, 15, 22, 29, and June 5, 12, 19, and 26 (Thursdays), arriving in Mumbai at 4:15 am on the third day.
These trains will have 4 AC two-tier coaches, 6 AC three-tier coaches, 4 sleeper class coaches, 4 general second class coaches, one Divyangjan-friendly second class coach, and a luggage-cum-brake van. They will halt at key stations including Dadar, Thane, Pune, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Guntakal, Dharmavaram, Bengaluru suburbs, Salem, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, and others en route.
Meanwhile, South Central Railway has extended its special service from Secunderabad to Rameswaram. With the Pamban Rail Bridge now operational, Train No. 07695 Secunderabad–Rameswaram Special will depart from Secunderabad at 9:10 pm on Wednesdays and arrive in Rameswaram at 12:15 am on the third day. The return service, Train No. 07696, will leave Rameswaram at 9:10 am on Fridays and reach Secunderabad by 12:50 pm the next day.
