Free State police probe murder after burning body found in bush
The grim discovery was made by a shepherd in Mangaung. Police are investigating a case of murder after the body of an unknown male was discovered burning in the bushes in the Free State. The grim discovery was made by a shepherd in Mangaung, Phase 6, near Dewetsdorp Road on Tuesday, just before 9am. Burning body Police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli said when officers arrived on scene, they found the 'smouldering remains' of a male, estimated to be around 35 years old. 'The victim was reportedly wearing blue jeans and black takkies. No form of identification was found at the scene. 'The motive for the killing and the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently being investigated, and police are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the deceased,' Kareli said. Kareli is urging anyone with information that could assist in identifying the victim, or who has any knowledge regarding this incident, to contact their nearest police station or call the national Crime Stop line at 08600 10111. 'All information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality,' he said. 7 arrested after Clarens ATM bombing and police chase
Police have arrested seven suspects in connection with an ATM bombing in Clarens, Free State, earlier this week. The seven individuals, aged between 24 and 36, were arrested in Ficksburg yesterday after SAPS officers spotted a Toyota Fortuner parked near an ATM at about 01:00. 'Two males were seen tampering with the ATM. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to flee the scene. A vehicle pursuit ensued, culminating in the successful apprehension of the Fortuner's five occupants, including one woman,' police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli said in a statement. All suspects are foreign nationals. Four of them have been confirmed as undocumented immigrants. The suspects were wanted in connection with the bombing of an ATM located at a petrol station in Clarens, on Tuesday.
