Video: Trailer for Egyptian archaeological mystery film ‘Project X' released

The Egyptian film 'Project X' has revealed its first promotional trailer on Monday, ahead of its release in Egyptian and Arab cinemas in May. The film is directed by Peter Mimi and stars Egyptian star Karim Abdel-Aziz. This is their second cinematic collaboration, following 'Beit El Rouby' in 2023, which achieved record-breaking box office revenues in Egypt, described as 'historic.' 'Project X' is written by Peter Mimi, with Ahmed Hosni co-writing the script and dialogue. The story revolves around Egyptologist Youssef al-Gammal and his team as they embark on a globe-trotting journey across Egypt, the Vatican and Latin America as they uncover the truth behind a strange theory regarding the construction of the Great Pyramid – and whether it was actually a tomb. Mimi revealed in a recent post on his official Facebook page that the idea for 'Project X' had been on the table since 2018. He continued that bringing it to life was, 'Very difficult, both production-wise and visually, due to traveling to several countries, the presence of military and civilian aircraft and submarines, difficult-to-execute sets, action scenes, chases in difficult locations, and underwater filming.' The Egyptian director indicated that the circumstances are now favorable for the film's production and execution, following the series 'Al Hashashin,' which he presented starring Karim Abdel-Aziz during the Ramadan 2024 drama season.

'The Seven Dogs' will be the first film shot at Big Time Studios. Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, has announced the start of filming for his new movie, The Seven Dogs . The film, featuring Arab actors Karim Abdel-Aziz and Ahmed Ezz, marks a major milestone in Middle Eastern cinema with a production budget exceeding $40m. Al-Sheikh shared the news on his Facebook account, posting a photo of the two stars and describing the occasion as a historic moment for both his career and the Arab film industry. He revealed that the film is based on his own story, developed by the Big Time team, with a screenplay written by Mohamed El Dabbah. The project is being helmed by international directors Adel and Bilal, best known for their work on Bad Boys III . This film marks another collaboration between Abdel-Aziz and Ezz, who previously starred together in Kira & El Gin , a widely acclaimed box-office hit. The Seven Dogs is also the first production to be shot at the newly launched Al-Hisn Big Time Studios, reportedly one of the largest and most advanced film production facilities in the Middle East. While plot details remain undisclosed, the project aims to set a new benchmark for Arab cinema with its ambitious scale and cutting-edge filmmaking techniques.
