Ram Kapoor To Play Lead Detective In Indian Adaptation Of ‘Monk'

Published By : IANS Last Updated: Apart from Ram Kapoor, the Indian adaptation of Monk also stars Mona Singh, Shikha Talsania and Kshitish Date Mulshi. Actor Ram Kapoor will be seen leading the Indian adaptation of the police procedural comedy drama detective mystery television series 'Monk." Ram, who has starred in series including Kasamh Se and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, will play Armaan Mistry in the series, which is being made for JioHotstar and will release on June 27, reports Ram said, 'Armaan Mistry is a character unlike any I've played before. The whole experience of shooting Mistry was so immersive – I have deep dived into this character and understood his quirks, his brilliance and his vulnerabilities. It is a character very close to my heart and I am thrilled with how it has come out. I cannot wait for the audiences and my fans to see me as Mistry on JioHotstar." Armaan Mistry is ostensibly the Indian version of Tony Shalhoub's Adrian Monk, who worked with the San Francisco Police Department on unconventional cases. Mona Singh plays ACP Sehmat Siddiqui, while Shikha Talsania and Kshitish Date Mulshi also star. Mistry will premiere on June 27 on the streaming service, which is also known as JioHotstar locally. It is produced by Banijay Asia in association with Universal International Studios and directed by Rishab Seth. It marks the first adaptation of the series, about a detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder, in South Asia and comes after a deal between Banijay Asia and NBCUniversal Formats to remake shows for the Indian market, as per 'Monk" follows Adrian Monk, a private detective with obsessive–compulsive disorder and multiple phobias including apparent mysophobia and his assistants Sharona Fleming and Natalie Teeger. Monk works with the San Francisco Police Department in solving unconventional cases while investigating his wife's unsolved murder. The show also explores the main characters' personal lives and struggles. Deepak Dhar, Founder & Group CEO, Banijay Asia & Endemol Shine India, added, 'At Banijay Asia, we've always believed in telling stories that not only entertain but also challenge conventions. Mistry is a perfect reflection of that vision — it is a seamless blend of crime, humour and heart. It is also a very character-driven show, and we have put our best foot forward to make our protagonist, Armaan Mistry, portrayed brilliantly by Ram, hit all the right chords." Linfield Ng, VP, Format Sales & Production, NBCUniversal Formats said, 'It's always exciting to see a format as iconic as Monk take on new life, and with Mistry, we couldn't have asked for a better team to bring it to screen." 'Ram Kapoor brings real charisma and depth to Armaan Mistry, and together with the rest of the exceptional cast, the series promises something truly special. Huge credit to our incredible partners at Banijay Asia and director Rishab Seth for capturing the spirit of the original while reimagining it through a distinctly local lens." First Published:

Exclusive- Roopal Tyagi on her experience of working in TV shows says, 'It teaches you how to balance priorities and give your best under pressure'

Actress , popularly known for her role as Gunjan in Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, talks about working on Television for years. She shared her experience as a TV actor. She said, "What I truly believe is one of the greatest things about working in television is that it teaches you how to perform under intense pressure. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Whether it's the pressure of time, receiving scripts at the last minute, or having little to no preparation, television trains you to adapt quickly. You learn to truly embody your character so deeply that even if something is thrown at you unexpectedly, you instinctively know how your character would respond. That's an incredible skill to develop." She continued, "In fact, when you see an actor delivering a strong performance on television, it's important to recognize the level of discipline and talent that is required. If someone is doing well in such a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, you can be sure they'll shine just as brilliantly—if not more—in mediums like OTT or film, where there's more time for rehearsal and character preparation." She explained, "Television actors are constantly working against the clock. We often shoot an episode a day and sustain the same character over months or even years. To keep that character fresh, engaging, and emotionally consistent over such long periods takes a tremendous amount of craft. So if someone can pull that off successfully, it says a lot about their calibre as an actor." She added, "That's the beauty of television—it teaches you how to balance priorities, stay focused, and give your best under pressure. It's a tough space, but it builds you up in ways few other formats cant." Talking ahead about her share of struggle she mentioned, "I've been in the industry for around 17 years now—first as a choreographer and then as a television actor, working across both fiction and non-fiction formats. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now One of the biggest things I've observed over the years is the lack of proper guidance in the industry. When I started out, there was no structure at all. We didn't even know who to approach or how to go about things. " "While things are starting to become a bit more organized now, and I do see some positive changes happening, this gap in mentorship and structure has been a long-standing issue—not just in television, but across the entertainment industry as a whole. The fact that things are slowly evolving is definitely a step in the right direction," she concluded. She was last seen in , and is also known for featuring in shows like Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Dill Mill Gaye, Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah, Kasamh Se. She also contested reality shows like Dance India Dance Li'l Masters 2, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8, Bigg Boss 9.

Ram Kapoor shares pics of his toned body amid drastic weight loss transformation; writes, 'Sorry for partial nudi*y'

Ram Kapoor, formerly popular for his suave and fuller physique in blockbuster serials such as Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Kasamh Se, continues to amaze audiences with his astonishing fitness makeover. On Tuesday, the actor stunned fans yet again after posting a fresh set of photos on Instagram that prove one thing: he's actually ageing backwards. On his recent post, Ram took a glimpse at how his physique had changed – this time around without a shirt, though. Posed shirtlessly with his chest out showing clearly a sculpted face and cut jawline, the actor has made everyone notice that the mission is really yet to come to an end. Captioning, he put it, "Work in progress… sorry for the partial nudity … still long way to go to reach the goal. The comment section was filled with a deluge of reactions. While some fans were awed, terming him a "beast" and admiring the self-control behind his makeover, others were nostalgic about the Ram Kapoor they had grown up watching. One user posted, "Dayummmm," while another said, "U looked much better earlier. pehle aap bade ache lagte the!" A very emotional fan posted, "I miss your chubby cheeks." This is not the first time Ram Kapoor has made heads turn. The actor grabbed headlines when he announced that he had lost a staggering 55 kgs — a feat that motivated thousands of fans all over the country. However, even amidst praise, Ram has been criticized and speculated upon, particularly about how he underwent the transformation. He has openly denied taking Ozempic, a contentious weight-loss drug. Amidst all this health-centric makeover, Kapoor was also embroiled in a subtle war of words with TV czarina Ektaa Kapoor. Their tension became public after Ram alleged that Ektaa had insisted on the now-famous kissing scene between him and Sakshi Tanwar in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. As a counterattack, Ektaa took a veiled swipe at his weight reduction efforts, which only added to the rumors of a breakdown. In spite of personal and professional soap operas, Ram is steadfast on his path and an example of commitment and self-control. His fans, either pro or con his physical transformation, still look up to the man who once revolutionized the TV hero and now is revolutionizing midlife fitness. On the professional front, Ram was recently seen in the web show Khalbali Records, which went on air on September 12, 2024. With his new look and incessant reinvention, one thing is certain — Ram Kapoor is not yet done.
