New Delhi: Two drug traffickers, including a woman, have been arrested by Delhi Police 's crime branch with high-grade heroin worth Rs 80 lakh recovered from their possession. Police received a tip off regarding movement of drugs on July 19. "A police team intercepted 36-year-old Kashim, resident of New Seemapuri, and recovered 789 grams of heroin from him. A case under sections of the NDPS Act was registered at the Crime Branch police station," DCP (crime) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said. Kashim said he was working for 48-year-old Bindu Devi, a known trafficker from New Seemapuri Jhuggi, who allegedly ran the supply chain through her absconding son-in-law, Arif alias Samir. Police said Bindu had been externed from Delhi in July 2024 under orders of DCP Shahdara but continued operations from outside the city. New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) The Delhi Police busted an inter-state heroin trafficking racket with the arrest of its kingpin and her associate, an official said on Wednesday. The police recovered 809 grams of high-grade heroin worth around Rs 80 lakh in the international market, Rs 3,300 in cash, and three mobile phones from the accused, he stated further. The accused have been identified as Kashim (36), a resident of New Seemapuri, and Bindu Devi (48), a known trafficker previously involved in two cases under the NDPS Act and externed from Delhi since July 2024. 'On July 29, acting on a tip-off, a team apprehended Kashim from Seemapuri and recovered 789 grams of heroin from him. During interrogation, Kashim disclosed that he worked for Bindu Devi, who operated the drug network through her absconding son-in-law Arif alias Samir," said the officer. On August 3, the police traced and apprehended Bindu Devi from a rented premises in Gurugram's Saini Kheda village. During her police custody remand, Bindu led investigators to Seemapuri, resulting in the recovery of 20 grams of heroin. According to the police, Kashim is a school dropout who previously worked at a hardware shop and began peddling drugs after becoming an addict himself. Two suspects, including a woman alleged to be the kingpin, have been arrested, and 809 grams of high-grade heroin valued at approximately Rs 80 lakh in the international market have been seized. Police also recovered Rs 3,300 in cash, believed to be proceeds of crime, and three mobile to officials, the operation was part of the ongoing nationwide campaign against drugs, which the Delhi Police is intensifying through targeted raids and sustained surveillance. Acting on intelligence inputs, ANTF teams first apprehended a man identified as Kashim (36), a sixth-class dropout and former hardware shop worker, from Delhi with 789 grams of heroin. A case under Section 21(c) of the NDPS Act was registered at the Crime Branch police interrogation, Kashim allegedly disclosed that he was working for Bindu Devi (48), a known drug trafficker from New Seemapuri Jhuggi. Police said Bindu was operating through her absconding son-in-law, identified as Arif alias Samir.
