Snorkel AI Announces $100 Million Series D and Expanded Platform to Power Next Phase of AI with Expert Data

Snorkel Evaluate and Snorkel Expert Data-as-a-Service empower enterprises to evaluate and tune specialized AI at scale REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 29, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Snorkel AI announced general availability of two new product offerings on the Snorkel AI Data Development Platform: Snorkel Evaluate and Snorkel Expert Data-as-a-Service. These launches advance its mission to turn knowledge into specialized AI—helping teams move from prototype to production at scale by leveraging Snorkel AI's programmatic data development technology. In addition, Snorkel AI announced it has raised $100 million in Series D funding at a $1.3 billion valuation, led by Addition. This new funding will fuel continued research and innovation in evaluating and tuning specialized AI systems with expert data. While large language models (LLMs) offer immense potential, enterprises cannot confidently deploy them "off the shelf" for specialized business cases. According to Gartner, through 2026, organizations that fail to establish scalable AI data practices will see over 60% of AI projects abandoned. Achieving production-ready AI requires domain-specific data for fine-grained evaluation and model tuning methodologies. "We are seeing a surge of momentum around agentic AI, but specialized enterprise agents aren't ready for production in most settings," said Alex Ratner, Co-founder and CEO of Snorkel AI. Anthropic closes $2.5 billion credit facility as Wall Street continues plunging money into AI boom

Earlier this week, Anthropic received a $2.5 billion, five-year revolving credit line to amp up its liquidity in an ever-expanding — and expensive — competition in the artificial intelligence industry. Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI research executives, launched its Claude chatbot in March 2023. The company closed its latest funding round in March at a $61.5 billion valuation, and the new credit facility adds to that. The company said it plans to use it to strengthen its balance sheet and invest as it scales rapidly. Annualized revenue reached $2 billion in the first quarter, the company confirmed, more than doubling from a $1 billion rate in the prior period. Revenue chief Kate Jensen said in a recent interview with CNBC that the number of customers spending more than $100,000 annually with Anthropic jumped eightfold from a year ago. Morgan Stanley, Barclays, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Royal Bank of Canada and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group all participated in the credit facility. Companies are seeking more funding and liquidity than ever before as the AI arms race intensifies. The generative AI market is poised to top $1 trillion in revenue within a decade. Companies from Google and Amazon to Anthropic and Perplexity are racing to announce new products and features, especially as the race to build "AI agents" intensifies. "This revolving credit facility provides Anthropic significant flexibility to support our continued exponential growth," Krishna Rao, Anthropic's finance chief, said in a statement. "The backing of these global financial institutions is a testament to the strength of our business and the resonance of our mission." OpenAI announced similar news in October, when CNBC reported it had received a $4 billion revolving line of credit. The influx brought the company's total liquidity to more than $10 billion and came soon after it closed a funding round at a then-valuation of $157 billion. JPMorgan Chase, Citi, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Santander, Wells Fargo, SMBC, UBS, and HSBC all participated. OpenAI's base credit line is $4 billion, with an option to increase it by an additional $2 billion.

Anthropic's Claude can now generate invoices on PayPal and analyze sales on Square

Anthropic's Claude can now assign tasks on Asana, generate invoices on PayPal, analyze sales on Square and perform other duties across business apps. The integrations announced on Thursday mark the next phase for Claude, which has to this point been able to use available information to inform answers to user queries. As generative artificial intelligence rapidly advances, Claude is now taking actions on a user's behalf across a range of work applications, such as Zapier, Plaid, Atlassian's JIRA and more. "You tell Claude what needs to be done, and it can execute those actions across your different business tools," an Anthropic spokesperson said. The feature is currently available on the company's Max, Team and Enterprise plans, with Pro coming soon. Anthropic said there's also a Zapier integration that can allow Claude users to draft and send Slack messages on their accounts, but there's no direct Slack integration yet. Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI research executives, launched Claude in March 2023. Two years later the company closed its latest funding round at a $61.5 billion valuation. Annualized revenue recently climbed to $2 billion, the company confirmed. That's up from $1 billion in December, which was about a tenfold increase from a year earlier. Revenue chief Kate Jensen said the number of customers spending more than $100,000 annually with Anthropic jumped eightfold from a year ago. Jensen said in an interview that much of the growth is coming from Claude's enterprise and coding businesses. Software vendors like Snowflake and Salesforce are building applications on top of Claude, while insurers are using it to help with underwriting and manufacturing businesses are relying on it to help modernize their supply chains. In health care, businesses are using Claude for work on drug discovery. "So many big enterprises have 15 different [coding] languages powering all of their core systems and products, and they're dying to modernize all of that code," Jensen said. "It's coding plus enterprise that really come together and create that special recipe for growth." Like ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, Claude has exploded in popularity as businesses rush to incorporate generative AI chatbots across sales, marketing and customer service functions. In addition to its enterprise business, Anthropic is also going after consumers, especially power users, with a $100 to $200 monthly subscription that it launched last month. Also on Thursday, Anthropic debuted its Advanced Research tool, which allows Claude to write longer and more comprehensive research reports after searching the web, a user's Google Workspace and other connected apps. The feature completes research reports within about five to 45 minutes.
