Someone in the UK has just a month to claim £1,000,000 National Lottery win
One lucky ticket holder has won a million pounds – and they don't even know it. Someone from Liverpool won a £1,000,000 prize in a EuroMillions draw on February 14 this year. A search is ongoing for the mystery player but they have until August 13 to claim their winnings. The winning ticket matched the Millionaire Maker draw, which everyone with a EuroMillions ticket is entered into. The dreamy amount of £1,000,000 would be life-changing for most people. There are two other £1,000,000 prizes which are also unclaimed – but winners have more time to find their ticket. The first was won in the May 10 draw from a ticket in St Albans City & District. This person has until November 6 to claim the prize. The second £1,000,000 Lotto prize is from a ticket brought in Birmingham and won on May 24. It has a deadline to claim of November 20. There are smaller but equally transformative amounts which are yet to be claimed by EuroMillions winners. One player from Barnet in London won £106,738.50 by matching five balls in a draw on February 7. They have until August 6 to claim the prize – which was won with numbers 0, 23, 24, 29, 45 plus Lucky Stars 8, and 10. Any cash prizes not claimed after the six month deadline is paid out instead to the National Lottery Community Fund, which helps projects across the UK. Once you have managed to find the ticket and check the numbers really match, you should call the number on the back of the ticket connecting to the lottery line. You will then get a call from the winner's advisor who will then come visit you in person, ideally the next day. You can read more about what happens during each step after winning here. Kathy Garrett, a winners' advisor for Allwyn, the National Lottery's operator, previously explained how players can check if they brought the winning ticket on Valentine's Day. Garrett said: 'Rummage through your warm coats and double-check that this winning ticket hasn't inadvertently been stowed away with your hats, scarves and gloves.' More Trending Lottery players should also search their vehicles. She said a builder claimed a whopping £50,000,000 ticket days before it expired after 'he had left the winning ticket in the sun visor of his work van.' On June 17, a single ticket holder in Ireland won the huge £208,000,000 EuroMillions jackpot. If someone in the UK had won the jackpot, they would have instantly become the biggest winner in EuroMillions history. Explosion rocks fireworks warehouse in Northern California, sparks massive fire
A fireworks facility in Northern California exploded Tuesday afternoon, igniting a massive fire and sending a towering plume of smoke tens of thousands of feet into the sky, authorities said. The Yolo County Sheriff's Office said the blast occurred in the rural community of Esparto, roughly 40 miles northwest of Sacramento. At a press briefing shortly after 9 p.m., Esparto Fire Protection District Chief Curtis Lawrence said crews would maintain a safe perimeter around the main fire overnight while working to extinguish smaller spot fires in the area. Witnesses reported hearing a large explosion followed by repeated bursts of fireworks shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Several streets were shut down, and emergency dispatchers received numerous calls about the incident. 'As many of you may have heard, there was a significant explosion earlier today near the Esparto/Madison area,' the sheriff's office said in a statement. The Yolo County Office of Emergency Services confirmed the building was a commercial fireworks facility. The Winters Police Department also noted several 'large explosions' occurred during the event. Some people at the scene told CBS Sacramento they feared loved ones may have been inside the facility when it exploded and that they hadn't been able to reach them since. When pressed by reporters during the evening briefing, law enforcement officials declined to say whether anyone had been injured or killed. 'We do believe this location is owned by an active pyrotechnic license holder, and as part of our investigation, we will be working to determine that everything happening at the facility was within our license requirements,' California Deputy Fire Marshal Kathy Garrett told ABC 10. 'This type of incident is very rare, as facilities like this are required to not only follow our stringent California pyrotechnic requirements, but also federal explosive storage requirements.' Cal Fire named the blaze the Oakdale Fire. It quickly spread into the nearby vegetation near Highway 16 and Oakdale Ranch Lane. Fire crews from Esparto, Madison, and Winters responded, along with Cal Fire ground and air units. Authorities established a one-mile evacuation zone around the site. Forward progress of the vegetation fire was halted after burning approximately 78 acres. 'We urge everyone to avoid the area so that fire crews and emergency responders can safely do their work,' the sheriff's office said. 'At this time, the cause of the explosion remains unknown,' the sheriff's office added. 'The Yolo County Sheriff's Office will share updates as more information becomes available.'

Winner of National Lottery's huge £10,000 a month prize has just HOURS left to claim it - could it be YOU?
The clock is rapidly ticking for a lucky winner to get their hands on a huge lottery jackpot, with just mere hours left for them to claim the life-changing prize. The victorious ticket in the National Lottery 's Set For Life draw was purchased in the Sevenoaks area on October 24, 2024, with the prize needing to be claimed by tomorrow. Its winner is set to receive £10,000 a month for the next 30 - a whopping total of £3.6million. In a bid to uncover the mystery winner, people have been urged to check their tickets in the likelihood that they could unnowingly be the would-be millionaire. The winning ticket will contain five numbers - 2, 11, 29, 37, 45, plus the Life Ball 6. Calling on members of the public to make their final checks to avoid falling short of the momentous win, Kathy Garrett, a winners' advisor for Allwyn, the National Lottery 's operator, said: 'The winning draw took place a week before Halloween, so think about where you were when you were about to carve your pumpkin or preparing for trick or treating. 'Rummage through your warm coats and double-check that this winning ticket hasn't inadvertently been stowed away with your hats, scarves and gloves.' Lottery players are also being advised to search their vehicles, whilst in Sevenoaks, where the £10,000 a month prize purchase was won, a giant replica of the winning ticket was erected at the train station in March. Speaking to the BBC, a spokeswoman for National Lottery operator Allwyn said: 'While the National Lottery is committed to finding the winning ticket-holder, if the prize remains unclaimed the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to help projects across the UK. 'This will add to the £30m-plus raised every week to make a difference in every community across the country.' Players who scoop more than £50,000 in National Lottery winnings are required to claim the money in person by completing a form and providing the winning ticket, together with proof of identity and age. Failure to do so within 180 days of the draw date results in the forfeiture of the cash – although there is a small window of opportunity to save the situation. If Allwyn UK, the National Lottery operator, is contacted before the 180-day claim period expires, the winner is granted a further seven days to claim the money in person. In October 2024, a total of £2.35million in unclaimed lottery prizes remained outstanding, with successful players in the London boroughs of Bromley and Lambeth, alongside in Birmingham, yet to come forward to purchase their lottery prizes. Ms Garrett confirmed that instances of unclaimed millions are not uncommon, with it likely that winners simply have no idea about their unbelievable stroke of luck. She even said that a builder claimed a whopping £50,000,000 ticket days before it expired after 'he had left the winning ticket in the sun visor of his work van.' In February, 13 ticket-holders became Lotto millionaires, with one winner claiming a £7.4m jackpot on 15 February, the competition said. Three ticket-holders also

Winner of £300,000 National Lottery prize has just one week left to claim
The winner of a National Lottery prize worth £300,000 has been urged to come forward as their deadline to claim the money fast approaches. There is just a week left for the unknown victor to stake their claim and secure the massive £10,000-a-month for 30 years. The winning ticket in the Set for Life draw was bought in Sevenoaks, Kent, on 24 October last year. The price must be claimed by Tuesday, 22 April 2025. This will mark the end of the 180-day window the winner has to claim, with the search now well underway to make sure they don't miss out. National Lottery organisers have been busy on the streets of Sevenoaks to raise awareness and help find the missing winner who scooped the prize by matching the numbers 2, 11, 29, 37 and 45, and Life Ball 6. Kathy Garrett, who advises winners of the National Lottery, said: 'This kind of prize not only transforms the life of the winner, it's typically life-changing for their loved ones too. 'With just days to go, we're doing everything in our power to make sure this mystery person or syndicate comes forward, so they can enjoy the endless possibilities this prize offers.' She added: 'We once had a very fortunate builder who came forward not long before his ticket was due to expire. 'He won over £50 million and had left the winning ticket in the sun visor of his work van. I can't emphasise enough how important it is to search the places you'd least expect.' A spokeswoman for National Lottery operator Allwyn said: 'While the National Lottery is committed to finding the winning ticket-holder, if the prize remains unclaimed the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK. 'This will add to the £30 million-plus raised every week by National Lottery players to make a difference in every community across the country.'
