Kallas: We are waiting for concrete steps from Israel to finalize the agreement to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza
Kallas: We are waiting for concrete steps from Israel to finalize the agreement to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, said that the EU has reached a "common understanding" with Israel to improve the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, stressing that "the challenge now is actual implementation on the ground, not just paper agreements." اضافة اعلان Kallas added, in remarks upon her arrival at the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, that the EU has observed positive signs represented by the reopening of some crossings, repairing power lines, and increasing the entry of aid trucks. However, she emphasized the need for "more concrete measures to achieve a real improvement for the residents of the Strip." She explained that the ministers will also discuss the Iranian file, with deadlines approaching for the "snap-back" mechanism linked to the nuclear deal, confirming Brussels' readiness to return to the diplomatic track to preserve regional security. Regarding Ukraine, Kallas welcomed the announcement by the United States to provide new weapons to Kyiv and revealed that the EU is "very close" to adopting the eighteenth package of sanctions against Moscow, expecting its approval "today or tomorrow." She added that European efforts "always require negotiation and broad partnerships," affirming that the EU will continue to pressure Russia through sanctions and the oil price cap, even if G7 countries proceed without Washington on this matter. The new round of sanctions related to the war in Ukraine stalled for weeks due to a dispute with Slovakia over separate plans for a gradual halt to Russian gas imports and Malta's refusal to set a price cap. Slovak President Robert Fico, who is close to Russia, hinted at the possibility of abandoning his opposition after talks with Brussels regarding plans to cut Russian gas imports by the end of 2027. Officials said the EU is also nearing agreement on a plan to lower the price cap for Russian oil exports to third countries worldwide. Kallas told reporters that the plan "is still on the table." This comes despite the failure of EU allies to convince US President Donald Trump to approve the plan. The price cap is a G7 initiative aimed at limiting the revenues Russia earns from exporting oil to countries around the world. The oil price cap set by the G7 at $60 in 2022 aims to limit the price at which Moscow can sell oil globally by preventing shipping and insurance companies dealing with Russia from exporting above this price. Under the EU's new plan, which is expected to be supported by G7 countries such as the UK and Canada, the EU will set a new flexible price below the market value. This price currently equals $47.6 according to internal EU discussions seen by AFP. AFP

EU calls on Israel to fully implement Gaza aid deal
Shafaq News - Brussels The European Union and Israel have reached an agreement to increase humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip, EU foreign policy chief Kaya Kallas announced on Friday. Revealed during a regional summit in Kuala Lumpur, the agreement sets out a significant rise in daily truck shipments of food and essential supplies. It also includes reopening additional border crossings and reactivating overland aid routes through Jordan and Egypt. These measures are expected to be put into effect in the coming days, accompanied by monitoring systems designed to ensure assistance does not reach Hamas. The agreement comes after weeks of internal EU discussions about potential pressure tools should talks with Israel fail to improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza. Diplomats in Brussels, cited by German news agency DPA, confirmed that Kallas had previously shared a list of proposed actions with member states. Prepared following a June meeting of EU foreign ministers, the list detailed a range of options including suspending trade benefits, imposing an arms embargo, and blocking Israel's participation in the EU's Horizon research funding program. Additionally, it proposed tighter entry conditions for Israeli nationals and sanctions targeting officials deemed responsible for Gaza's humanitarian situation. The EU-Israel air transport agreement, which allows open market access for direct flights, was also identified as a potential leverage point. Notably, these discussions were supported by an internal EU review that found Israeli military operations in Gaza breached

Kallas: Israel violates HR, we need to improve conditions in Gaza
Brussels - Saba: The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, called for the need to improve the situation in Gaza and emphasized Israel's violation of Article 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This came in press statements following a meeting of EU foreign ministers, during which the results of the EU's review of the Association Agreement with Israel were presented. Regarding the results of the review, Kallas said, "The goal is to bring about tangible improvements in the lives of the people of Gaza." Kallas confirmed that they will present the review's findings to Israel and work to improve the situation in Gaza, which is a key focus of EU member states. The European official stated that the EU's priorities in Gaza are a return to a comprehensive ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the release of prisoners. Kallas indicated that if the situation in Gaza does not improve, they could discuss additional measures against Israel. Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop it. FM Strongly Criticizes EU Conclusions on Yemen
Sana'a - (Saba): Foreign of Minister Jamal Amer strongly criticized the conclusions of the recent European Union Foreign Ministers' meeting on Yemen. In a letter addressed to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas, Minister Amer considered these conclusions to be a clear bias and an adoption of the narrative of the aggressor states and their proxies, as they overlooked the fact that what Yemen is witnessing is a direct result of aggression and an unjust blockade. He refuted the allegations contained in the conclusions, stressing that the military operations in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as against the "Zionist entity," come within the context of a "legitimate and principled response" to the ongoing aggression and blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, and within the framework of the humanitarian, moral, and religious duty towards the Palestinian people. The letter indicated that the Yemeni operations are "not random," but rather target specific vessels linked to the Zionist enemy or countries participating in the aggression against Yemen. It emphasized that freedom of navigation cannot be a cover for "the shedding of the blood of our children and women in Yemen and Palestine." The Foreign Minister attributed the failure of UN peace efforts to the "intransigence of the aggressor states" and their rejection of just Yemeni demands. He pointed out that Washington was the one that halted an agreement with Riyadh regarding the roadmap to pressure Sana'a's position on the events in Gaza. As stressing that Sana'a supports a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees Yemen's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, he pointed out that "it is impossible to talk about a real and sustainable peace while the aggression and blockade continue." Any international or regional initiatives must be based on this reality and exert real pressure on the "aggressor states" to end their aggression, lift their blockade, and withdraw their forces. He also criticized the European Union's continued support for what he called the "Yemeni government" and the "Presidential Leadership Council," formed by foreign powers, considering it support for the "tools of aggression" and a prolongation of the crisis. The Foreign Minister explained that these entities are responsible for plundering Yemen's wealth and exacerbating the suffering of citizens in the occupied territories. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates' letter affirmed Sana'a's categorical rejection of any attempt by the European Union to "impose its guardianship over Yemen's foreign positions," emphasizing that its positions "stem from its principles, values, and the supreme interests of its people." He expressed his deep astonishment at the call for Yemen to adopt specific positions, while the European Union continues to "blatantly ignore the war crimes and genocide committed by the Zionist entity" in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories and "overlook the crimes of aggression and the blockade imposed on Yemen." Minister Amer considered the European Union's continued reiteration of accusations regarding "weapons proliferation and Iran's role" an attempt to justify the failure of the aggression, emphasizing the Yemeni people's right to develop their defensive capabilities. The letter called on the European Union to address the flow of weapons to the "aggression states," stressing that Operation Aspides and other attempts to militarize the Red Sea are a "dangerous escalation" aimed at protecting the interests of the "Zionist entity" and threatening the security of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates renewed his call for the European Union and its member states to conduct a comprehensive and radical review of their policies toward Yemen and shift toward a balanced and fair stance that reflects the facts on the ground. He emphasized the need for "immediate and serious action to pressure the aggressor states to end their aggression and lift their blockade completely and unconditionally," as this is the only and inevitable path to any sustainable political solution.
