The restaurant owner, who was charged with domestic violence in 2023, allegedly blamed Japanese influencers and residents in Malaysia for losses in his ramen business. According to Kaz, this belief led the restaurant owner to threaten and blackmail others, including using fake online profiles to spread stories and harass individuals. Kaz further alleged that the same profiles were used to issue death threats and even demand money under the guise of seeking help. Expressing his dismay, Kaz said he was saddened and ashamed to witness such behaviour from a fellow Japanese person in Malaysia. He confirmed that he has lodged reports with both the police and the Japanese Embassy in Malaysia to seek protection. Kaz also urged members of the public to report the suspicious profiles and to notify the authorities if they came across threats linked to the case. Meanwhile, the ramen restaurant owner has used social media to make his own claims, including a July 19 post where he announced that he would ban Japanese residents in Malaysia from dining at his outlets. On Aug 12, he alleged that a Japanese resident in Malaysia with a Datuk title had threatened him and his staff, and he vowed to expose alleged wrongdoing linked to that person. Most recently, on Aug 14, the owner announced he would be closing all his outlets and leaving for Okinawa, adding that he was concerned about the future of his local staff and hoped companies would step in to hire them. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
