Iconic ‘90s Boy Band Reunites on Stage for the First Time in 25 Years

Iconic '90s Boy Band Reunites on Stage for the First Time in 25 Years originally appeared on Parade. Ask any millennial woman today, and she'd likely tell you her wall was plastered with boy band posters throughout the late '90s and early 2000s. While there is no denying the star power of groups like N'SYNC, Backstreet Boys and so many others, one that flew slightly under the radar was the beloved group Five (formerly styled as 5ive). The group formed in 1997 and released their debut single 'Slam Dunk (Da Funk)' just a year later. Comprised of five members Sean Conlon, Scott Robinson, Ritchie Neville, Abz Love, and Jason 'J' Brown, they released several hits before calling it quits in they cited reasons like mental health struggles and personal disagreements, all of that seems to be in the past as the group made a surprise reunion thanks to Robbie Williams (of Take That fame) during his performance at Emirates Stadium. 'I don't remember the words to this next bit," joked Williams. "I wonder if anybody can help me out. Ladies and gentlemen the first time they've been seen on stage for 25 years. My mates. Five!' Fans say they gave an "electric performance" of their hit 'Keep On Movin'.' "I can't begin to tell you how happy this made me," wrote one excited fan. "Thank you guys for getting back together." And if you missed the performance over the weekend, don't fret. The group is taking their act on the road this fall in the UK, which could (hopefully) mean a run for the U.S. is in the works, '90s Boy Band Reunites on Stage for the First Time in 25 Years first appeared on Parade on Jun 9, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 9, 2025, where it first appeared.

Robbie Williams reunites all the members of Five for the first time in 25 years

Robbie Williams has reunited all the members of the British boyband Five for the first time in a whopping 25 years. The 90s pop group came together to perform onstage with Williams at his Stadium show at Wembley in London over the weekend. At the Emirates Stadium, the '90s boy band, comprised of Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Sean Conlon, Abz Love, and J Brown, performed their 1995 hit Keep On Movin'. Williams started to sing the song himself before telling the sold out crowd: 'I don't remember the words to this next bit. I wonder if anybody can help me out. Ladies and gentlemen, the first time they've been seen on stage for 25 years. My mates. Five!' The shows mark their first full tour together as a complete line-up since their early 2000s split. 'Reconnecting as a 5 has been special. We're ready. It's time,' said Robinson. 'Wow, what an honour to be asked by Robbie Williams to join him on stage at his London stadium show. Rob has been such a big supporter of ours, from the early days through to the comeback, so when he reached out to ask whether we'd come out on stage for his performance of Keep On Movin', it was the EASIEST yes,' the band later told fans on social media. They added: 'To get to share that moment with Robbie in front of 60k people was crazy … definitely a version of Keep On Movin' we'll never forget.' The surprise appearance was more than a one-off — Five officially announced their 2025 Keep On Movin' UK tour, a 25-date arena run kicking off October 29 in Cardiff, UK. Williams' latest tour follows the release of his biopic, Better Man, which became one of the biggest cinematic flops ever when it was released last December. Despite a warm reception from reviewers, the film – produced for a whopping $179 million – failed to make an impression upon its release. 'Robbie Williams played by a digitally animated chimpanzee [is] an outlandish choice. For anyone complaining that the industry plays it too safe, this is your movie,' David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research, told Variety. 'The risk-taking is excellent, but $110 million is not realistic for the genre and for this musical artist. $25 to $30 million would have made more sense.'

Five surprise Robbie Williams fans with first live performance in 25 years

Former Take That member Robbie Williams is currently travelling around the country as he treats super fans to UK BRITPOP stadium tour Five have surprised Robbie Williams fans at a London concert with their first live performance in 25 years. Concert-goers were sent into a frenzy when the multi-platinum selling band joined Robbie on stage during his performance. Robbie is currently on his huge BRITPOP stadium tour and Five's appearance is their first performance with all five members together for more than two decades. ‌ The band's iconic 1999 chart-topping song Keep On Moving played through the stadium while Robbie admitted that he didn't know all of the words of the second verse and asked the audience to join in to help which is when the band appeared. ‌ Abz Love, J Brown, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Sean Conlon all walked out on stage before singing along to their song. This is also the first time Five and Robbie have performed together. Talking about the opportunity, Five said: "Wow, what an honour to be asked by Robbie Williams to join him on stage at his London stadium show. Rob has been such a big supporter of ours, from the early days through to the comeback, so when he reached out to ask whether we'd come out on stage for his performance of Keep On Movin', it was the EASIEST yes. "To get to share that moment with Robbie in front of 60k people was crazy… definitely a version of Keep On Movin' we'll never forget." The surprise performance comes ahead of Five's 25-date KEEP ON MOVIN' Tour, which will kick off this October. This comes after Robbie recently opened up about her deals with anxiety when he is recognised by fans. The star, 51, said how interactions with fans can "spike" the issue in a heartfelt post on Instagram. ‌ He described a recent incident on board a flight in America saying: "I've had three interactions so far with fellow passengers. One of them handed my a lovely note - kind words about my documentary - and then asked for a photo." Robbie said he sent another note back explaining that he had "been up since 4.30am, had two hours' sleep, and wrangled four kids through the airport". He also confessed to dealing with anxiety before saying anybody approaching him for a photo would cause it to "spike" due to the further attention it would cause. However, he said he hadn't rejected the request, but instead tried to explain how many people had a photo with him, but no-one had the same handwritten note. ‌ Robbie revealed how it's a daily situation for him, with strangers approaching him on average 20 times a day to take a photo. But he then argued that there are some situations that he doesn't want to capture and there should be scenarios in which he can reject a request. "I was on the phone to my wife the other day - she was in flood of tears about her mum. Is it okay for me to say no to a photo request then?," he asked. "What if I'm having a challenging mental health day - is it okay if I don't want that captured by a stranger?" He finished off his post by saying he needed to get that off his chest and it was "not a moan". Fans and celeb friends such as Paris Hilton, Amanda Holden and Kris Jenner all left messages saying they understood the difficult situation.

‘We wouldn't say no': Five keen to kick off reunion tour with Glastonbury slot

Boyband Five have said they 'wouldn't say no' to kicking off their reunion tour with a performance at this year's Glastonbury Festival. It comes after the group announced they would reunite with their original line-up for the first time in 25 years. The group – made up of Abz Love, J Brown, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Sean Conlon – have performed as a four piece and with three of their original members following the band's break-up, but have not fully reunited since splitting in 2001, when they were just a three-piece. Speaking to the PA news agency about the possibility of a spot at Worthy Farm, Conlon said: 'We don't want to get carried away, if it came, it would be unbelievable, we wouldn't say no.' The group were also keen to reunite with Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen, who they performed with during their original run together, and recorded a cover of the band's We Will Rock You, but said nothing had been planned yet. Robinson told PA: 'Now we're talking, come on Brian, get your old guitar out, let's be having you.' It comes after the five-piece said they got back together in an AirBnb to meet up again as friends, before realising they had 'unfinished business' and the reunion was on. Neville told PA: 'It was a wonderful moment, as I said, within 10 seconds of seeing each other, we were like, 'wow, boys, there's still something special in the air'.' Robinson added: 'It was nerve wracking after so many years, not just for trepidation or negativity, but it's just like it was such a huge, huge thing, a big moment. 'But then the magic was there within us, and we just thought, after spending a bit of time together, it was just like we could do something here.' Five will embark on the 12-date Keep On Movin' tour this year, starting at the Brighton Centre on October 31 and running until November 16, when the group will play the tour's final gig at Glasgow's OVO Hydro. Along the way the band will also perform at London's O2 Arena, Cardiff's Utilita Arena and Manchester's AO Arena, supported by DJ Naughty Boy. The band will treat their fans to some of their biggest hits during the shows such as If Ya Gettin' Down, Keep On Movin' and Everybody Get Up. Five said their fame had been 'instant' in the 1990s when they formed and said they related to the struggles of getting famous at a young age evidenced in the BBC's Boybands Forever documentary series, which some of their number featured in. Neville told PA: 'I think becoming famous at a really early age, look at any child star and name anybody that hasn't then gone through some kind of transition mentally or had to break through some kind of war or didn't make it. 'So maybe it's something we need to look into a little bit for what fame does to a young brain.' Love said he would advise young people starting out in music to 'think about it' rather than 'rushing in', but the band said they thought the industry was 'nicer' in the current day than back in the 1990s. Brown said the group would be reuniting with a new-found appreciation for each other. He told PA: 'Back in the day, we really didn't appreciate, not what was going on, but each other, how special it is, what we've got, and that's what we've got now. 'The energy was good back then, without that appreciation, but now we've got it, and just looking at each other what we've been through, I bet there'll be some tears.' Formed in 1997, Five have sold more than 20 million records worldwide, with all 11 of their singles featuring in the top 10 of the UK singles chart, and they also had four UK top 10 albums. The group has charted in almost 20 countries, and their reunion also comes 25 years after they won the Brit Award for best pop act in 2000.
