Eda Ezrin and five others to be detained by police upon return to Kelantan

The detention is to facilitate the recording of their statements following their recent release from Thai custody. Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat (left), Eda Ezrin (right) RANTAU PANJANG – Kelantanese singer Eda Ezrin, along with her husband and four acquaintances, will be detained by police upon their return to Kelantan on Thursday afternoon. The detention is to facilitate the recording of their statements following their recent release from Thai custody. Eda Ezrin, whose real name is Wan Norshaheeda Azlin Wan Ismail, 30, and the five other individuals are expected to arrive at the Sungai Golok police station. From there, they will proceed to the Golok Immigration Detention Depot for documentation before being allowed to return home. Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed the development, adding that two of the six individuals will also face arrest under immigration laws. 'We have stationed officers for this action. However, two of the six individuals who entered Thailand illegally will be arrested under Section 5(2) of the Immigration Act 1958/63,' he said. The two individuals facing the immigration charges are Eridieka Mohd Noor, 33, and Zuhaira Nasrin, 26. Meanwhile, Eda Ezrin's husband, Mohd Affendi Ahmad, 35, along with Mohamad Alif Deraman, 33, and Nur Aida Mamat, 33, will be detained for the purpose of having their statements recorded. The group was fully released from the Narathiwat Provincial Central Prison on Wednesday, following a court decision to reject the prosecution's sixth request for an extension to file an appeal. According to Federal Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) Director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, the processing of all six individuals will be carried out by the Kelantan NCID upon their arrival.
