JPJ Kelantan collects RM205k from seized vehicle auction
KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) successfully auctioned 102 seized vehicles, generating RM205,290 in revenue. The event, held at the JPJ headquarters in Panji, saw a Hino FSIK lorry fetch the highest bid at RM51,000, while a Modenas Kriss motorcycle sold for the lowest price of RM250. State JPJ director Mohd Misuari Abdullah confirmed the auction was conducted transparently, with oversight from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), National Audit Department, and JPJ Headquarters. 'All vehicles were disposed of in compliance with court-issued forfeiture orders,' he said. The second-highest bid was RM30,000 for a Daihatsu Delta. The proceeds will contribute to state revenue, reinforcing JPJ's commitment to lawful enforcement.

10 express bus passengers fined for not wearing seat belts in Kelantan
KOTA BAHRU: Ten express bus passengers were issued compounds for not wearing seat belts during the Kelantan Road Transport Department's (JPJ) enforcement operation, which began on 1 July. Kelantan JPJ director Mohd Misuari Abdullah said each of the 10 adult passengers was fined RM300 for the offence. "Nine were caught during inspections in Gua Musang, while the remaining passenger was stopped in Pasir Puteh," he told reporters after leading a safety awareness and inspection campaign at the Lembah Sireh terminal last night. He said the passengers were travelling on express buses that had departed from the terminal before being intercepted in the two districts for inspection. The operation is part of a nationwide JPJ campaign launched on 1 July to enforce seat belt compliance on express and tour buses. "This campaign aims to ensure adherence to seat belt regulations and raise safety standards in public transport," Misuari said. He added that JPJ personnel would also carry out undercover inspections by boarding selected buses disguised as passengers to monitor compliance throughout the journey. "Undercover officers will observe and document any violations discreetly, including whether both drivers and passengers are wearing seat belts during long-distance travel," he said. During last night's operation, 25 JPJ officers were deployed. More than 10 express bus drivers and their passengers received safety briefings and advice. "I reminded them to always check that seat belts are working and in good condition before starting their journey," he added.

1,000 candidates selected for MyLesen B2 programme in Kelantan
KOTA BHARU: A total of 1,000 Community College and secondary school students aged 16 and above from the B40 group in Kelantan have been selected to undergo free training under the MyLesen B2 programme this year. Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) deputy director Mohd Apandi Jusoh said that selected candidates under the programme must go through the full process of obtaining an 'L' licence, by first attending practical training, and undergoing assessments before being eligible for testing by JPJ officers. 'Last year, we helped 2,500 Kelantan people from the B40 group to obtain their licence. However, the MyLesen B2 licence is not automatically granted - candidates must still complete all the tests and training as required by JPJ,' he said when met by Bernama after a meeting of the state and federal government department heads in Kelantan today. Elaborating further, Mohd Apandi said that once this group obtains their licences, it will help ease their daily routines, such as commuting to work, while also contributing to the creation of responsible road users. The MyLesen B2 programme is part of the government's initiative to produce competent and safety-conscious motorcyclists, in line with road safety regulations, and ultimately help reduce the number of motorcycle-related accidents.

KOTA BHARU: A total of 6,172 vehicles from Thailand entered Malaysia through three main border checkpoints in Kelantan during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season from March 24 to April 8. During the same period, a total of 5,506 vehicles exited the country. 'Although JPJ's primary focus is currently the Ops HRA (Hari Raya Aidilfitri) 2025, enforcement of foreign vehicle offences continues under Ops Tunggak, which generated RM76,950 in revenue from 277 summonses issued,' he told Bernama today. He added that offences detected included not possessing the ICP, failure to display or present the ICP, incorrect display of the ICP, absence of a valid Competent Driving License (CDL) and various other technical violations. Mohd Misuari said Kelantan JPJ will continue monitoring and enforcement actions against Thai vehicles to ensure road safety and compliance with all regulations and laws in the country.
