PA Soldiers and Sailors Home recognizes National Medal of Honor Day
The Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home is recognizing National Medal of Honor Day.
The volunteer resources coordinator, Ken Vybiral, said National Medal of Honor Day is a significant day on the calendar that their staff and residents take time to acknowledge with the community.

He said the Medal of Honor recipients are the epitome of service and sacrifice, talking about the local connection that Erie has with the Medal of Honor is an honor within itself.
'I think to make sure that that history isn't lost the recipients that we honor here today served Civil War era, so even though they were City of Erie residents, many City of Erie residents may not know their history or the tales of their service and sacrifice,' said Vybiral.
Vybiral said the support of the community at the ceremony shows veterans at the home that their service and sacrifice have not been forgotten as well.
