The duo will perform in eight cities in Korea, US and Canada Korean violin legend Chung Kyung-wha, now 77 and in the 58th year of her illustrious career, will embark on a recital tour this fall, joined by longtime musical partner pianist Kevin Kenner. The tour includes four performances across Korea in September as well as four concerts in North America in November. The Korean leg of the tour kicks off in Pyeongtaek on Sept. 13, followed by stops in Goyang on Sept. 21, Seoul on Sept. 24 and Tongyeong on Sept. 26. The US tour marks Chung's return to New York's Carnegie Hall on Nov. 7 — her first performance at the iconic venue since her 50th debut anniversary concert in 2017. Other North American stops include Mechanics Hall in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Nov. 2; McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, New Jersey, on Nov. 5 and Koerner Hall in Toronto, Canada, on Nov. 9. Chung has described Kenner as her 'soulmate in music.' A laureate of the 1990 International Chopin Piano Competition — where he received second prize (no first prize was awarded) and the Polonaise Prize — Kenner will accompany her throughout the tour and will also serve as a juror at the 2025 Chopin Competition. Chung first rose to global prominence in 1967 after winning the prestigious Leventritt Competition. She went on to perform with major US orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony, and was featured at a White House gala concert. Her groundbreaking success as an East Asian soloist in the Western classical world earned widespread acclaim. Over her decadeslong career, Chung has recorded most of the core violin repertoire with major labels such as Decca, RCA, Deutsche Grammophon and EMI, building a widely respected discography. After briefly stepping away from performing due to injury in 2005, she made a celebrated return in 2010. In 2023, she reunited on stage with her brother, conductor Chung Myung-whun, for a rare duo performance.

Rare Hulk stretch toy expected to sell for 'incredible' thousands at auction
A rare Hulk stretch toy is expected to sell for thousands of pounds when it goes under the hammer at auction later this month. The toy was produced by toy-maker Denys Fisher who was born in Leeds but lived in both Dumfries and Cumbria. The figure is thought to be one of just 30 examples of the original Hulk stretch toy from 1979 still to exist. It is to go under the hammer on 26 July and is expected to sell for up to £5,000. The toy comes with its original packaging which bears a handwritten 'number one' on the flap of the box, and is described as being in 'mint' condition having been kept out of the light and upright over the years. Jonathan Torode, from Excalibur Auctions, said: 'We are thrilled to be able to offer the opportunity to acquire one of the rarest stretch toys in existence. 'Having never been offered on the market before and to be in such good condition and with excellent provenance, renders this the ultimate for collectors. 'We therefore anticipate world-wide interest." The Hulk figure was sold in limited quantities in the UK and was originally part of Kenner's 'Stretch Armstrong' line and was later licensed under Denys Fisher in the UK.

Asean nations face major hurdles amid growing dependence on LNG: Report
KUALA LUMPUR: Southeast Asia's growing reliance on liquefied natural gas (LNG) as an energy security solution are under pressure. This is due to rising geopolitical tensions, volatile pricing and infrastructure risks which may continue to challenge the region's long-term plans, according to a new report by Zero Carbon Analytics (ZCA). The report warns that Asean nations' plans to expand LNG imports, requiring infrastructure investments estimated at US$11.8 billion, could expose the region to significant energy security risks and future fuel shocks. Since LNG must be continuously imported, any supply disruption or price surge could significantly impact electricity prices and overall economic stability. ZCA energy transition researcher Dario Kenner said the unpredictable nature of conflicts in the Middle East has the potential to disrupt LNG flows. "In recent years, LNG imports have contributed to significant electricity price increases in countries like Thailand and Singapore, and supply disruptions have occurred due to global market reallocation, particularly during periods of heightened European demand," he said. Kenner added that the region's investments in LNG infrastructure also come with exposure to continued price volatility, dollar-denominated costs and potential supply constraints. As part of their strategic approach, Southeast Asia is turning to LNG imports particularly from the United States, to ease tariff pressures and diversify energy sources. However, ongoing geopolitical tensions, including the Ismrael-Iran conflict and risks to the Strait of Hormuz, could further complicate both access and affordability. The report also highlights alternative pathways for energy resilience, with Asean countries said to possess considerable untapped renewable energy potential, alongside existing clean energy manufacturing bases. ZCA projects strong growth in global LNG supply, with the International Energy Agency forecasting a 33 per cent increase in liquefaction export capacity between 2024 and 2028, from 665 to 884 billion cubic metres annually. This increase will be driven in large part by infrastructure expansions in the United States and Qatar, two of the world's top LNG exporters. Thailand, the region's largest LNG importer, is expected to import up to 2.0 million metric tons of US LNG annually over the next five years. Meanwhile, Vietnam and the Philippines are building import terminals with a combined capacity of more than 49 million tonnes per year. Net exporters like Indonesia and Malaysia are also expected to increase LNG imports as part of ongoing tariff restructuring.

Fresh twist in death of Super Bowl reporter Adan Manzano as new suspect emerges amid murder investigation
A third person has been charged in connection to the death of a television reporter who had traveled to New Orleans to cover the Super Bowl earlier this year. Christian Anderson, 33, of New Orleans, was arrested for his alleged role in a recurring scheme that police say involved targeting victims, drugging them and robbing them. Among those alleged victims was Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old reporter and anchor for Telemundo based in Kansas City, Missouri. Manzano was found dead on February 5 in his hotel room in the New Orleans suburb of Kenner. Manzano's death came a year after his wife died in a car accident. The couple leaves behind a toddler daughter. An autopsy revealed that Manzano died lying face down on a pillow, unable to breathe after ingesting a combination of alcohol and the depressant Xanax. Security video from Manzano's hotel showed the reporter and a woman, who police later identified as Danette Colbert, entering his room together on the morning of his death. About an hour later, Colbert could be seen walking out of the room alone. Authorities say the woman later used Manzano´s credit card at a New Orleans gas station and several stores in the area. Colbert, whose arrest record includes allegations of drugging men and theft, was charged with second-degree murder and with stealing Manzano's credit cards and cellphone. In addition, Ricky White, 34, has been charged with murder. Kenner police said that the vehicle Colbert used on the day of Manzano's death had been rented by Anderson. After reviewing more evidence, including text messages, police say they believe that Anderson 'provided logistical support, engaged in post-crime communication, and assisted in attempts to financially benefit from the victim´s stolen assets.' Anderson has been charged with principal to simple robbery, purse snatching, access device fraud, illegal transmission of monetary funds, bank fraud and computer fraud. He is currently being held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. Jail records did not immediately list an attorney who could speak on Anderson's behalf. Colbert had been on probation after receiving a suspended sentence by an Orleans Parish judge last year for a conviction of theft and fraud charges. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill's office successfully argued in court earlier this year that Colbert, who has multiple prior felony convictions involving fraud, was a habitual offender and deserved a harsher sentence. 'The evidence was overwhelming that this woman was a serial fraudster and took advantage of multiple tourists and innocent people over many years in the French Quarter,' Murrill said in an emailed statement. Exclusive CCTV images obtained by showed Colbert and Manzano arrive back at the Comfort Inn hotel in Kenner, Louisiana together before she left on her own. Surveillance footage - exclusively obtained by Daily Mail - showed Manzano and Colbert entering the Comfort Inn in Kenner on February 5 at 3.46am. He appeared coherent, following Colbert through the lobby, to his room. It remains unclear where the pair met. Manzano was found unresponsive on February 5 at 3pm after colleagues called for a welfare check. Colbert had been on probation when police arrested her for allegedly stealing the cellphone and bank cards of Manzano, a reporter and television anchor based in Kansas City, Missouri.
