Actor Farra Shibla SLAMS National Film Awards for 'The Kerala Story': 'I strongly believe it does not...'

After the National Film Awards were announced recently, the jury has been facing a backlash for selecting 'The Kerala Story' in the Best Director and Best Cinematography categories. Earlier, the chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, had expressed his disappointment with the decision, and now, actor Farra Shibla, known for her roles in 'Kakshi: Amminippilla' and 'Kerala Crime Files 2,' slammed the jury. The actress dropped a lengthy post on her Instagram. Let's learn about it in more detail. Farra Shibla slams jury for honouring 'The Kerala Story' with National Film Awards Expressing her thoughts, Farra posted on Instagram, "The National Film Awards are the most prestigious honors in Indian cinema, celebrating outstanding contributions and excellence in filmmaking. However, The Kerala Story falls short of these standards." She further added the movie doesn't show any facts, and the narrative is "fabricated." She wrote, "The film's narrative is a fabrication with no basis in reality, failing to represent the true essence of Kerala, its language, customs, traditions, or cultural heritage. " She went on to share that honouring a film like 'The Kerala Story' is "troubling" for a person who lives in Kerala. Farra stated that the film had a "political agenda." She concluded by writing, "Awarding undeserving films can tarnish the reputation of these esteemed awards and undermine the trust of the artistic community." The backlash and the film Earlier, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, actor Ranjini, and jury member and filmmaker Pradeep Nair had expressed their discontent with the decision. Meanwhile, the film sparked controversy when the first trailer of the film was released on the internet, which claimed 32000 women from Hindu and Christian communities were converted into Islam and they were forced to join ISIS. Later, the makers had to change the figure from 32000 to three. Backed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Sudipto Sen , the film was released in theatres on May 5, 2023. The film earned over Rs 300 crore at the box office.

Mahesh Bhuvanend Interview: Editing is not just about software, it's understanding emotions

A Sometimes, when you start reading a script, you stop at night and continue the next day. But when I read Bahul Ramesh's script for Kerala Crime Files 2, I started at 10 at night and read it completely before going to sleep. With a script like that, you feel the thrill of wanting to know what happens next. That gives you confidence that the audience will feel the same. When we look at the footage, there are visuals we've already imagined. So I edited it with the same excitement I felt during my first reading. The way viewers might have mistaken the red herrings as someone else's past was exactly how I felt too. Another interesting aspect this season is the presence of subplots. Each layer had its own emotional beats, and balancing them was important. A challenge with any second season, especially a police procedural, is that it has to be just as powerful, if not more, in showing the growth of the main characters. In that way, there was an advantage, because this season starts with a new police officer, Noble (played by Arjun Radhakrishnan), and we, like the audience, don't know him yet.

"The creators have already prepared the sequel's content, but they are currently working on a movie. Soon after the film, I hope they will start production on the second season. JioHotstar has confirmed the project, as per my knowledge," he remarked. Like every Malayali who is interested in the web series, Sirajudheen stated that he is also awaiting an official announcement on the subject. In the first season of 1000 Babies, Sirajudheen portrayed Bibin. The murky air surrounding his role in the story has kept viewers keen, especially in the web series' climax, even if his character is not shown as much. What is 1000 Babies all about? The focus of the web series is Sarah Ouseph, who has been keeping a sinister secret from others for years. Bibin, her son, goes completely crazy when she tells him the truth.
