Sandra Thomas files nomination for KFCC secretary post
Film producer Sandra Thomas on Saturday filed the nomination for the post of secretary in the election to the executive committee of the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) scheduled on August 27. She told media persons that she has learnt the lessons from her defeat in the election to the executive committee of the Kerala Film Producers' Association on Thursday. 'But I was able to garner around 110 votes, indicating that there are around 110 opposing views against the panel that won the election,' she said. She has also filed the nomination to the post of member of the executive committee in the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce. 'I am hopeful that the nomination for the post of general secretary will be accepted during the scrutiny scheduled on Monday, August 18,' she said, On the social media post by filmmaker-producer Vinayan that the election to the executive committee of KFPA was not held in a democratic manner, she alleged that he was right as the election venue was mostly filled with persons, who were not members of the producers' body. 'My fight against the mafia-like groups within Malayalam film bodies will continue,' she said. On the election of women in the lead roles in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), she said that it was a welcome move. However, they will be judged by their actions, especially on various issues faced by women in the industry, she said.

Producer forged signature to usurp film rights: Nivin Pauly
Kochi: Palarivattom police registered a case against film producer P S Shamnas based on a complaint by actor Nivin Pauly , alleging that the producer forged his signature to appropriate the rights of 'Action Hero Biju-2', a sequel to his hit film. Pauly is co-producing the film directed by Abrid Shine. The FIR states that an agreement to co-produce the movie was signed on March 3, 2023, by Pauly, Shine and Shamnas, who owns the film production company Indian Movie Makers. The allegation is that Shamnas forged a consent letter, which allegedly included Pauly's forged signature, and submitted it to Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce. Using the same, he registered the film in the name of his production company. The FIR against Shamnas was registered under Sections 465 (forgery) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the IPC. Earlier, Thalayolaparambu police registered a case against Pauly and Shine based on Shamnas's complaint. Shamnas alleged that the overseas rights of the film were sold to a company without his knowledge. Pauly is learned to have initiated action to quash this FIR against him.

On Nivin Pauly's petition, producer booked for allegedly forging rights of Action Hero Biju 2
The Palarivattom police in Kerala have registered a case against film producer P.S. Shamnas on a petition by actor Nivin Pauly that the former allegedly forged his signature to appropriate the rights of the forthcoming Malayalam movie Action Hero Biju 2. Mr. Pauly is also the co-producer of the film, which is a sequel to the blockbuster Malayalam movie by the same name, being directed by Abrid Shine. According to the FIR, an agreement was signed by Mr. Pauly, Mr. Shine and Mr. Shamnas, who owns the film production company Indian Movie Makers, to co-produce the movie on March 3, 2023. However, Mr. Shamnas allegedly forged a consent letter complete with Mr. Pauly's forged signature and submitted it to the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce and got the film registered in the name of his production company, the FIR said. With the registration of the police case, the film chamber is also likely to initiate action against Mr. Shamnas. Earlier, the Thalayolaparambu police registered a case against Mr. Paul and Mr. Shine on a petition by Mr. Shamnas who had alleged that the overseas rights of the film was sold to a company by Mr. Pauly's production company Pauly Junior without his knowledge. Mr. Shamnas has been charged under the Indian Penal Code Sections 465 (forgery), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record).

Actor Shine Tom Chacko admitted to de-addiction centre amid drug abuse claims
Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko was admitted to a de-addiction centre amid drug abuse claims by his co-stars. Recently, 'Soothravakyam' co-star Vincy Aloshious filed a complaint with the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce alleging misconduct and drug usage on the film sets. Soon after the claims, he was arrested by the police, where he confessed to using narcotic expressed his wish to overcome his addiction and hence he has now been admitted to the rehabilitation centre. Upon Vincy's complaint, the Kerala film body informed Chacko's family and said that he needed professional assistance for his to Mathrubhumi report, the 'Leo' actor will undergo treatment as part of the Kerala government's de-addiction programme called 'Vimukthi'. His treatment will be supervised by the Excise department. While Vincy Aloshious did not file a police complaint, the Excise Department took notice of it and arrested Shine Tom Chacko. After being grilled for hours, he was let out on Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi were questioned by the Excise department in connection with the hybrid ganja case. Recently, director Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza were arrested for the possession of this month, the Excise officials in Kerala's Alappuzha seized hybrid ganja worth Rs 2 crore from Christina and Feroz. The 41-year-old Christina claimed that she had consumed drugs with Chacko and Bhasi, after which they were summoned by the police.

Malayalam actors Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi questioned in hybrid ganja case
Popular Malayalam actors Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi appeared before the Excise officials in Kerala's Alappuzha for questioning. This is in connection with probing the seizure of hybrid ganja worth around Rs 2 crore from Christina and Feroz earlier this month. As per what she told the excise officials, she had consumed drugs along with both these actors. Based on her statement, notices were issued to them. After initial questioning, they were let out on station accused, 41-year-old Christina alias Tasleema Sultan, is working in the film field as a script translator. The Excise officials seized 3 kg of weed from them. Christina and Feroze were arrested in a car along with hybrid ganja. Christina was staying in three were arrested from an apartment in Kochi, which belonged to prominent cinematographer, Samir Tahir. After the officials got a tip-off about the possession of the substance, they conducted a search and arrested them. An official said, 'From the initial questioning, it was understood that they have been using ganja regularly for years now. They were in the apartment for a movie discussion. We have to investigate further about the supplier based on the information they gave."Last week, Malayalam filmmakers Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza were arrested by Excise in Kochi for possession of hybrid ganja (weed). Along with them, their friend, Shalif Mohammed, has also been Shine Tom Chacko was recently in the news for alleged drug consumption on the film sets of 'Soothravakyam'.
