Meth plea draws 6-year sentence, other cases given new dates
A Crossville man no stranger to the court system pleaded guilty to possession of less than .5 grams of meth and received a six-year prison sentence. He has served 352 days on the charge and fine and court costs were forfeited. The plea Kerwin Deshaun Williams, 47, entered will be used against him if he finds himself in Criminal Court again with potential enhancement to persistent criminal status. The plea was entered was a Range 1 offender. The charge stems form an Oct, 1, 2024, indictment charging him with possessing more than 26 grams of meth for sale and/or delivery. The charge was filed as a result of a CPD investigation by Lt, Jared South, Sptl. Jesse Henson and Sptl. Keyton Harthun on Dec. 30, 2023. On that date, Williams was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by police because the driver of a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer traveling on West Ave. had a suspended license. During the interaction, Williams allegedly tried to pull away from officers during which time a stun gun was used to stop the flight The resulting search yielded four small packages of crystalline substance police identified as meth. In other cases on the docket, the following took place: Deadline •Terry Lane Cobb, possession of 300 grams of meth or more and speeding, continued to March 4. •John Christopher Garland, aggravated assault and vandalism of $2,500 to $10,000, evaluation results pending and continued to March 11. •Jericia Renee Marie Hayes, second-degree murder, possession of a Schedule II drug with intent and possession of less than .5 grams of alfentanyl, Kyle Cokkinias motion to withdraw from case granted, Joe Wyatt appointed to represent Hayes and continued. •Kelly Scott Hood, burglary, aggravated burglary, theft of property of $1,000 to $2,500 and joyriding, evaluation results pending and continued to March 11. •Rebecca Leann Ladd, possession of meth with intent and possession of a weapon during commission of a dangerous felony, continued to March 11. •Alyssa D. Thompson, aggravated assault, continued to March 11. •Dustin Ryan Seney, aggravated assault and domestic assault, continued to April 8. •Fred Issac Threet, possession of meth with intent, continued to March 11. Petitions/motions •Dustin Michael Balch, statutory sexual abuse of a child and statutory rape by an authority figure, motion to reduce $1 million bond continued March 4. •Eddie James Bright, motion on restitution owed in aggravated burglary, theft of property of $10,000 to $60,000 and vandalism of $10,000 to $60,000, agreed motion on restitution owed granted. Report with attorney •Jacob Ryan Edmonds, evading arrest, Public Defender's Office appointed to represent Edmonds and continued to March 11. •Curtis Richard Hood, aggravated child abuse, neglect or endangerment, continued until March 11 at which time Hood is to return to court with an attorney. Probation violations •Shaunna Angelia Fenn, reportedly doing well in recovery program, continued to March 11 for tracking and update. •James David Matthews, pleaded guilty to a probation violation of absconding, to serve 30 days in jail and then be released back on supervised probation for the balance of an eight-year sentence. •Elizabeth Page Rockstead, given credit for time served in jail and released with probation terminated. •Lacey Dawn Sherrill-Kauffman probation violation continued to April 8 for tracking with Recovery Court application pending. •Michael Scott Stradder, pleaded guilty to a probation violation, to serve 50 days in jail after which probation will be terminated. •Casper Dean Gentry, pleaded guilty to probation violation of testing positive for cocaine and meth and is to serve the balance of a two-year sentence.
