Chennai: The Malayalee Club, Chennai, and Chettur Foundation celebrated 168th birth anniversary of Chettur Sankaran Nair on Friday. The only Malayali and the youngest ever president of the Indian National Congress , one of the Viceroy's council during the British era, judge at Madras high court — Sankaran Nair wore many hats but ironically his name would have been buried in the annals of time if not for a recent movie which centres around his life — Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, said N R Panicker, president, The Malayalee Club. Sankaran Nair is most known for his resignation from the coveted ciceroy's council following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. "There were attempts to hush up news of the massacre, but Nair's exit brought it to the limelight. It was then that the British govt started taking Indian protests seriously," said Panicker. "Incidentally, we came to know that he was the president of The Malayalee Club, Chennai, for 16 years. IT minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan was chief guest on the occasion. He recalled his association with Kerala, mentioning that Sankaran Nair's hometown, Ottappalam in Palakkad district, is home to many a great name. The Kesari Chapter 2 actor shared that his routine is simple. "I have taken an oil bath every Sunday with sesame apply it all over your body, especially your head. On other days, it's coconut oil, applied in a specific manner," the actor said. R Madhavan added that he has been following this ayurvedic routine for over 20 years. The 55-year-old actor recalled that people used to point out about how he was the first Tamil actor without moustache during his initial career in Tamil cinema. R Madhavan and wife Sarita rent out Rs 17.50 crore apartment, to earn Rs 1.6 crore rent in 2 years

Actor R Madhavan and his wife Sarita have given their Mumbai apartment, worth Rs 17.5 crore, on rent. The residential property, located in Bandra Kurla Complex, will draw Rs. 6.50 lakh monthly rent, as per property registration documents reviewed by Square Yards. The leave and license agreement was officially registered in June, 2025. The property will earn Rs 1.60 crore rent over a period of two years and is situated in Signia Pearl apartment complex. The rental agreement also includes a security amount of Rs 39 lakh, along with a stamp duty of Rs 47,000 and registration charges of Rs 1,000. Madhavan bought this property, measuring 388.55 sq. m. (4,182 sq. ft.) at Rs. 17.50 crore in July 2024. Going by the agreed rental terms and acquisition cost, the total rental revenue is at approximately 4.5% for the first year, escalating to 4.7% in the second year of the lease. The courtroom drama has begun streaming on JioHotstar from June 13. The film hit cinemas on April 18 and was well received by both critics and viewers. Blending history with intense courtroom drama, 'Kesari 2' explores the lesser-known legal and emotional aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Akshay Kumar plays a lawyer leading the fight for justice, while R Madhavan and Ananya Panday support with strong performances in pivotal roles. Unlike the first 'Kesari', which focused on the Battle of Saragarhi, Kesari Chapter 2 shifts its lens to a different historical tragedy.
