Flood crisis remains severe, 19K moved to govt shelters
1 2 Lucknow: The flood situation remained severe across Uttar Pradesh, affecting 913 villages in 24 districts. Around 83,091 people are bearing the brunt of the floods, with 19,167 forced to move into govt-run flood shelters. More than two lakh individuals have received relief assistance, said relief commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami. The worst-affected districts include Bijnor, Bahraich, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Kasganj, Bhadohi, Kanpur Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Agra, Auraiya, Chitrakoot, Ballia, Banda, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Chandauli, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat, Hamirpur, Etawah, and Fatehpur. "So far, 517 houses have been damaged, with 360 people receiving financial assistance. Over 33,252 hectares of land have been inundated. Relief materials are being delivered using 1,640 boats and motorboats. So far, 17,924 food packets and 2,47,277 lunch packets have been distributed. More than 40 community kitchens are currently providing meals to the flood-affected population," said a govt spokesperson. In the 24 hours until Tuesday morning, the state recorded 22.7 mm of rainfall against a normal of 6.4 mm, a 255% departure from normal. The state's total rainfall since June 1 has now touched 424.4 mm, which is 8% above normal. A slight reduction in rainfall intensity was observed across most areas in the last 24 hours. Maharajganj recorded the highest rainfall in eastern UP with 40.5 mm, which is 650% above normal. Western UP's Bijnor reported 174.3 mm of rainfall against a normal of 8.4 mm, a staggering 1,975% departure. Meanwhile, a team of 11 ministers continued to visit flood-affected districts to supervise relief and rescue operations. Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya conducted an aerial survey of Prayagraj and later visited a relief camp, where he met flood-affected people. He instructed officials to ensure the availability of food, drinking water, and essential services. Power minister AK Sharma inspected flood-affected villages in Bhadohi and distributed relief material in Sitamarhi, including packets to over 100 victims. He also issued cheques of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of five deceased individuals. Finance minister Suresh Khanna and MLA Neelkanth Tiwari inspected a relief camp in Varanasi and interacted with affected residents, assuring them of quick govt support. Industries minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' held a meeting with public representatives and officials in Mirzapur to review the impact of floods, operation of relief camps and rescue operations.

Smart villages key to developed India: Dy CM Maurya
Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Saturday said that empowering villages and promoting self-reliance in rural areas were essential to building a developed India. He called for transforming villages into 'smart villages' on the lines of smart cities. Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya (Sourced) Maurya was addressing a review meeting of chief development officers (CDOs) at Yojna Bhawan, where he noted that Uttar Pradesh was leading in several rural development schemes and had the highest women's participation under MGNREGA. He asked officials to activate dormant self-help groups (SHGs), ensure greater transparency in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), and improve on-ground visibility of development works. During the meeting, the deputy CM launched the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) dashboard and unveiled the fifth edition of the department's quarterly magazine. He also felicitated 11 block development officers (BDOs) for notable work in building sports grounds under MGNREGA and three CDOs for their performance under the livelihood mission. Maurya urged officials to improve SHG product quality for global markets, connect rural youth to the PM Food Processing Scheme, and ensure timely issue resolution through Gram Chaupal. He also called for better maintenance of MGNREGA assets and the creation of a portal for PMAY-G beneficiaries.

Developed India needs self-reliant villages: Maurya
Lucknow: Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Saturday said the goal of building a developed India will be achieved only through the holistic and balanced development of villages. "Villages and villagers have to be made strong, self-reliant and self-sufficient in every situation. Smart villages need to be built like smart cities. Development work should be visible on the ground," he said. Maurya was chairing a review meeting of development works organised with all the chief development officers (CDOs) of the state at the Yojana Bhawan. He told senior officials of the rural development department and the CDOs to focus especially on activating the inactive self-help groups. He said Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-R) should be made more transparent. Maurya said the top priority of the govt is the welfare of the poor. He said Uttar Pradesh played a leadership role in the FDR technology of PMGSY. "The roads being constructed by PMGSY's FDR technology should be monitored regularly," he said adding that work should be done to connect unemployed youth of the villages with the Prime Minister Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme. He asked the CDOs to check the ground reality of the development works in the villages. The DyCM said village chaupal is a powerful medium to connect with the public. "Quick resolution of the problems of the villagers should be ensured in the chaupals," he said.

FIR against social media user for post targeting Dy CM Maurya
Prayagraj: Kaushambi police have registered an FIR against an unknown social media user for uploading a fake video/photograph of a fire department's building collapse and targeting Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya for the lapses in his home district. The unknown user, under the page titled "Neta Ji Ka Samajwadi Page," was booked under section 336 (4) of BNS (forgery) and section 66D of the Information Technology (IT) Act. The user uploaded the video narrating that Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and his development plans for Kaushambi (UP) are ready to collapse. The video shows that some firefighters were trapped under the collapsed building and broken pillars. When police checked about the incident, they found it to be fake. Following this, the acting chief fire officer of Kaushambi lodged the FIR with the cybercrime police station of Kaushambi district. The acting CFO said the video was uploaded to tarnish the image of the Kaushambi fire department. A senior cop said: "Detailed investigations are underway, and action would be taken accordingly."
